I'm talking specifically about rank based rewards and SBMM, because the system just doesn't make sense in two ways: 1. The reward system incentivizes players to reach the upper ranks at any cost, leading to people using unintended mechanics to gain even the slightest advantage (snap skating, weapon swaps, etc.), win trading, or even cheating and playing with cheaters; 2. The player population just isn't there for the 3v3 matches to be fair, sometimes I'm placed in games with Ascendant rank players (they have the Ascendant 3 emblems equipped), other times I fight against Silver and Bronze players, and the difference between those matches is astronomical. The first point makes the playlist unfun for me because, while I do like to feel like I have to work for the win, players aren't afraid to break the figurative gentlemen's agreement, and often cross the line with dirty tactics. I doubt that swapping from a hand cannon to a scout rifle while alive to get a kill at long range, then to a sidearm to protect the zone in CQC is an intended mechanic. That is one of many small details that add up to an unfair advantage. My second point is that there's no reason to measure someone's skill if it's not being used for anything but limiting the amount of rewards they get per week, or even their strength. If I, at Gold 3 rank, am forced to play against people that are normally Ascendant but either tanked their rank, are doing recovs, or are just smurfing on an alt account, then I expect to be given the same rewards as them. Right now I am limited to 4 weekly focuses for the old comp weapons, and can get only 50-60 stat artifice armor with less spiky stat distribution. I saw that in the TWID you announced Iron Banner would be taken away for a rework, so I think now would be the right time to work on the competitive playlist too, and hopefully my feedback reaches the right people on time.
