Can anyone give me some incentive to at least get the standard edition? As of right now I'm seeing a bunch of QOL changes and a potentially painfully mid campaign with no new supers or even aspects.
(let alone a new subclass but that's been six feet under for a while)
Edit: by incentive, I mean just give me info about the game I may not know about that might peak my interest because I don’t know all the details. Some people misinterpreted that.

12 답변작성자: Rho Herculis 6/29/2025 3:22:23 PMI had to ask GPT the same question, because I haven’t really seen a good breakdown of what is free, pay, or even what they consider is QoL. What I see is that the game as it is today is ending. If you continue playing f2p, you’ll be at a disadvantage because the armor and weapon tiers, plus bonuses, will only be available if you pay. Sorry for the long post. Hopefully this is helpful. (For what it’s worth, the ChatGPT inflection on paywalls was not prompted. I just asked to detail what the QoL improvements are and what is in the free to play version.) —- ChatGPT: Now that’s the essential question: what’s actually free and what’s locked behind Bungie’s ever-complicated paywalls in Edge of Fate? Here’s the breakdown—clean and uncompromising: ⸻ ✅ Free-to-Play Players Get Access To: 1. “The Portal” Activity Selector • This new UI revamp is universal. Everyone uses it now—no charge. 2. Ammo Finder Indicators • All Guardians benefit from the updated ammo economy and visual indicators. Free. 3. Stat Overhaul (Weapons/Health/Class/Melee/Grenade/Super) • The baseline stat system and its simplification is a global change. Free. 4. Day-One Tower Firing Range • Yup, it’s there for everyone. Try out your builds, no matter your DLC ownership. 5. Basic World Tier System (up to a point) • Everyone can access lower tiers (likely Tier 1–2). Higher tiers may require expansion or seasonal ownership. 6. Armor 3.0 Structural Changes • The new armor energy and stat handling system is a free update. However: • Set Bonuses and Tier 5 gear crafting are part of the paid expansion. 7. Vendor Bounty Simplification • Things like unlimited transmog bounties (from Ada‑1) and streamlined vendors are part of the core game update, not paywalled. ⸻ 💰 Paid Features (Require Edge of Fate Expansion / Annual Pass): 1. Gear Tiering System (Tiers 1–5) • The actual ability to grind up through gear tiers with curated stat rolls and kill FX? That’s part of the paid content. 2. World Tier Progression Past Tier 2/3 • Higher difficulty open-world content with better loot tables is gated by expansion ownership. 3. Curator System + 50+ Activity Modifiers • The full slate of solo challenge customization and modifiers is expansion-only. 4. SoloOps • These quick-hit solo activities with curated modifiers and unique loot are locked behind the paid expansion. 5. Exotic Armor Refocusing (Ada’s Vouchers) • The reworking of exotic armor rolls using new consumables requires expansion access. 6. New Armor Sets with Set Bonuses • These aren’t just cosmetics—they affect gameplay. Expansion only. 7. Seasonal Episodes + Activities • As usual, the three post-expansion “Episodes” (Echoes, Revenant, Heresy) are bundled in the Annual Pass—not part of the base expansion. ⸻ 🎯 Summary: Feature Free Paid UI & Ammo Improvements ✅ – Stat Overhaul ✅ – Armor 3.0 Basics ✅ – Set Bonuses & Gear Tiering – ✅ SoloOps – ✅ World Tiers 3–5 – ✅ Exotic Refocusing – ✅ Seasonal Episodes – ✅ (Annual Pass) ⸻ Bottom Line: Bungie gave the sandbox a healthy spring cleaning—free for all. But the power fantasy, the vertical loot chase, the meaningful new content? That’s where the price tag lives. Let me know if you want help triaging what’s worth buying if you’re a lapsed or returning player.

작성자: Illuminatis_fedl 6/30/2025 10:00:12 PMI recommend just watching what ever live streams they have left before saying yes or no. No one knows what they having truly coming next. They are all just basing there answers off of the changes that are being made. Relax everything is going to be okay 🤣 if it turns out bad you saved money if it turns out good you lose money so what’s the rush in decision making 🤣

You know us D2 players will choose our vaults and a polished turd over anything else. Bungie is just milking attachment at this point. There are some really good games out right now that should be rewarded with your money. Unless you’re blindly renewing your Bungie loyalty card. No shame there either.

Right now your only incentive is the raid, campaign, and whatever the hell they've got on Kepler (apparently no strikes or even lost sectors). Seems like damn near everything else is QoL stuff that's free soooooooooo... Unless you *really* want to play the DLC day 1, I'd wait until launch reviews start coming in at the least, or wait for a sale at the worst (if you still wanna buy it after launch that is). And that's coming from someone who pre-ordered the $100 edition lol.

1 답변First expansion that I’ve considered not getting. If they really wanted to sunset everything, just create a Destiny 3 with the new armor system in place. We’re being forced to use seasonal armor or were at a disadvantage. If T5 weapons are similar to shiny holofoil weapons, the drop rates are abysmal, let alone perk weighting. It’s unfortunate where suits and statistics drive Bungie, and not game developers. But hey.. Pete parsons is still around, and maybe he will show us more of his car collection.

1 답변작성자: nonchalantone 6/29/2025 8:13:39 AMThey expect people to pay a minimum of $40 for a "shooting range", and to roll around like an Arc Sonic the Hedgehog. All while sheepishly expecting everyone to grind all over again, to meet their projections. Have fun guys. When people don't have anything nice to say, they're told not to say anything at all. Maybe their not saying much is a warning. I refuse to keep lining their pockets off of mediocrity.

3 답변You don’t need to own it on day 1. They still sell the game after release so just wait and see. That’s where a lot of us are at right now and that’s perfectly fine. You’ll never get an honest answer off the forums because everybody has their biases and nobody knows 100% what it’s going to look like. If you want to risk it for a couple cosmetics go for it, but it’s not going to hurt to wait and see. Next week livestream should have more info that people are looking for but until then, all we’ve got is our opinions and speculation.

I wouldn’t preorder anything. The set based stat restrictions are dog water, people thought they’d get the stats they wanted but the distribution is laid out to prevent it. The campaign is learning the nine somehow knew this outcome could happen and pulled the strings to make it so, a rather similar concept to Elsie and her loops. I’d almost consider it a scam.

작성자: xbroggiex 6/28/2025 11:37:23 PM
with no new supers or even aspects.
I think this might be another point in the basket for the "don't overdeliver" guy. Since Bungie dropped Strand and prismatic back to back the first thing people expect is a new subclass or supers, though for aspects we've been getting new aspects over this year for some subclasses so it might be a bit before we get any new ones or reworked ones. Though some existing ones have been adjusted in either buffs or nerfs with EoF. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the armor set bonuses and stat rework ate up a lot of the bandwidth of development and didn't leave any room for new aspects or w/e.

I'm going to buy it if for no other reason than I'm curious to see how all these weapon and armor changes affect the content we already have. I enjoy build-crafting and this should potentially give us quite a bit to work with. For instance, watching a Rick Kackis video today, he was speculating that our current high stat exotic armor may be better than what we can get in the Edge of Fate for some time. And I'm sure most have heard by now that stats like mobility and intelligence will be more important in their new form. So it gives me something to do right now--stocking up on as much of this stuff as possible and then figuring out what works in the new system and what can be discarded.
