There, I said it.
Let’s cut the nonsense. The state of Destiny 2’s PvP isn’t what’s holding you back—it’s you.
Look, I’ll be the first to admit: I’m not good at this game. I’m not some top-tier PvP god, and I don’t pretend to be. But at least I understand that my failures are on me—not matchmaking, not my teammates, and definitely not some Bungie conspiracy designed to make my Crucible experience miserable.
Yet every time I play, I see the same tired complaints. People ranting about team balancing, claiming matchmaking is against them, acting like the game is unplayable when, in reality, they’re just not as good as they think they are.
The Participation Trophy Era of PvP
At some point, “Get good” became toxic. Imagine that. In every other competitive field—sports, music, even competitive basket-weaving—people understand that practice and effort lead to improvement. But in gaming? Oh no. The mere suggestion that skill should be rewarded is practically a war crime.
We live in an era where everything must be fair, but only in the ways that make people feel good. The only time it’s socially acceptable to demand excellence is when we’re watching professional athletes on TV. Anywhere else? Suggesting that someone should actually put in effort? That’s elitist.
And Bungie? They’ve rolled out the red carpet for this mindset. Destiny 2’s PvP is the most casual-friendly it has ever been, and yet somehow, people still act like the game is against them.
The False Confidence of Cheese
Here’s the real kicker—most of the players complaining about matchmaking aren’t actually good. They’re just good at abusing the latest overpowered nonsense.
They sit behind barricades with a pulse rifle, pre-aim lanes, abuse over-tuned weapons, and think they’re gods. Then, the moment their crutch gets nerfed or the enemy team gasp adapts? They collapse. The illusion of skill shatters, and instead of self-reflection, they blame matchmaking.
You see it all the time:
Players getting stomped and immediately crying about team balancing instead of looking at their own poor positioning and bad loadout choices.
People running headfirst into a 1v3 and acting shocked when they die.
The classic “skill issue” disguised as “my teammates suck”.
The Reality of Destiny PvP: Adapt or Stay Trash
Look, PvP in Destiny 2 has never been easier. You don’t need cracked aim. You don’t need insane movement. If you’re running a Titan barricade, a pulse rifle, and sticking with your teammates, you’re already playing the most brainless style imaginable.
And yet, people still struggle. Why? Because they refuse to learn. They refuse to adjust their loadouts for the map. They waste abilities, sprint off solo like they’re starring in their own personal action movie, and expect the game to carry them. When that doesn’t happen? Matchmaking is the problem!
Here’s a reality check: matchmaking isn’t stopping you from improving. You are.
Stop Complaining, Start Improving
I’m trash at PvP, and I know it. But I would never demand that Bungie dumb things down just so I can feel better about myself. The problem isn’t the game—it’s me. So I do what any rational person would: I try my best, accept my losses, and understand that players who put in the effort will be better than me.
That’s how it works. In everything.
So no, matchmaking isn’t out to get you. No, casual 6v6 isn’t some unfair pit of despair. And no, Bungie isn’t responsible for your inability to perform.
You want to win? Get good.
And if that phrase offends you… well, that might be part of the problem.
And Before the "Get a Life" Crowd Chimes In…
I already know what’s coming. The classic “Bro, you need to get a life” comment from someone who somehow thinks typing that out makes them the enlightened one.
So if you’re one of those people who thinks that just caring about improvement means someone has no life, maybe it’s time to stop projecting and start practicing.
There. I said it.
TL;DR:
Stop blaming matchmaking in casual 6v6 for your failures. The game isn’t holding you back—you are.

But Even though my personal performance has improved in the past few seasons, a lot of times my team gets destroyed and it doesn't matter how I do personally. Personal performance can only take you so far in team fights. This became especially evident in guardian games

You're preaching to the choir, people can't fathom it's them. I'm not the best and never have been but some people act like because I get lucky once or twice I'm a sweatlord or crutch. Its like it's a crime to casually win and casually lose. I'm a casual and I can win but I also lose alot more. People egos be the size of planets in this game.

3 답변작성자: Blues 3/17/2025 2:06:31 PMKnow what's actually holding you back? Getting put down by tons of adept weapons and players that smell so much of cheese you'd swear you could see a cartoon mouse hovering behind them. There is nothing to learn or gain from games where you either get your -blam!- beat uncontested, or feel like you are fighting bots with how terrible they are compared to you. Want a good example of this? Go try to fight a brick wall with your bare hands and tell everyone it was a skill issue when you come back with broken hands.

작성자: Synge_X 3/17/2025 10:45:26 PMThis is completely and utterly wrong by all metrics, on top of being pointless. Bungie can take no action on feedback given to the community, rather than them and their game. “Just get better” isn’t the answer to one of the most reported items of feedback for the last 5 years… compared to years before and a previous entry in the series that never had MM this bad…. No other game on the market places all of the best players on one team, against the worst and calls it SBMM. One person shouldn’t, and literally can’t be the deciding factor for match outcomes, unless of course they are at a skill level that requires the kind of practice that can only come from gaming as a career… I’m sitting on a 22% win ratio in control…. It shouldn’t be completely on my shoulders to “git gud” and lead a team of strangers to victory. I and many others work a day job, I don’t have time to “GO PRO” just to get a fair shake. This game objectively has an issue with its mm and is failing to keep and attract players for its PVP as a result. No amount of spitting In their face is going to make them keep showing up… Especially when literally every game on the market has better MM.

4 답변Ever think some people don't care about pvp. I suck at it, and my kd shows it but don't care. I don't want to get better. I only play pvp when pve gets boring.

1 답변Since you brought up the topic of matchmaking, I have an alternative opinion about CBMM matchmaking in Guardians games - it's crap because it doesn't protect against skill gaps. Bungie wanted to boost online in a cheap way by attracting sweaty guys who will play the game 24/7 and enjoy crushing casuals into the asphalt. Neither of them gain experience from this, since the game is always one-sided. As a result, no one wants to play Supremacy mode to such an extent that you can fall asleep while the matchmaking is going on. The only motivation to play such PvP is to complete the weekly contract for bright dust and complete the event challenges, after which you can safely play PvE and forget PvP like a bad dream. P.S.: Why do you think that someone cares about how wonderful your life is? If you still have a need to preventively prove something to strangers as an adult, you'd better see a psychologist. A successful person doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone, he just pushes forward like an icebreaker.

1 답변Hmm.. what kinda pay you getting over there? If they providing you with such an "amazing life".. I'm curious... I gotta know what Advertising firm pays the "big bucks" to someone who comes to a gaming forum and writes this.... and even remotely thinks "they" are "right" and it just "needed to said"...
But at least I understand that my failures are on me—not matchmaking, not my teammates
Nah, sometimes you're screwed by MM - but that's how things go. The difference is some players understand RNG teammates are RNG teammates and others will complain/-blam!- and moan about poor MM. having 6 solos go up against a premade team of 2 sets of 3 is a failure of MM. or how about when the GG supremacy mode bugs out and gives you a 7 (yes i said 7) vs 5 team.
