I don’t see anything related to the Pale Heart anywhere in this activity, not looks, not mechanics, not concepts. There are Taken, there are Hive, there are Fallen and there are Forces of the Witness. Each of those enemy types have certain qualities that we expect to see, and it seems they have learned a few things from their foes and stolen some of their technology. In some ways it is an extension of Destiny, but with a new twist. If that’s what you mean by it being “taken” from the Pale Heart, well then I guess it’s just “turtles all the way down” to the Red War.
