You need to do more than just update the New light experience. It doesn't matter if it is the best tutorial that has ever been created, if the game after that point is pathetic.
Depends who your audience & you're looking at it from a player's view & not a business one.
Bungies target audience from frontiers onwards is new players., if onboarding is better & they hang around there's a lot of content to get through. The people who have played for years don't generally spend money outside of big dlcs, or the bungie store, whereas new players who enjoy the opening experiences spend spend spend, for a while.
They know they can't create enough for veterans, or satisfy them with what they do produce. Limited budget, limited staff, means light content & focus on balance changes & reusing assets, they'll hope to get vets to buy the mini expansions, probably £25 a pop coz they know they aren't sticking around for 6 month seasons with no story & reused loot, for those players there's going to be very long dry spells
The only problem with that is that videos exist. There is nothing stopping a person from looking up a video about D2 before starting it and will then see how the game is.
If the new light quest line got updated, don't you think that there would be videos about it ? and also people would mention how the game is beyond that point.
