You ever just turn on your favorite gaming device and get ready to sit down and play something with you friends? You open your go-to messaging service and…
…none of them are online. You message a few. They don’t respond, except for one telling you that tonight won’t work and that maybe tomorrow would suit them better. You stare at your screen or your phone. You could play the game by yourself but what’s the fun of playing a game you always play with your friends, without them?
So you sit, waiting for a response or an invite or a call, but nothing comes. After what seems like hours of waiting for your buddies, your patience slips, and you disappointedly turn off your device, but not before sending one last message to a friend or two. You get up from your table or desk, and go sit somewhere, maybe your bed or couch, until it’s finally late enough to where you have to tuck in for the night.
Suddenly, your phone buzzes. You pick it up and turn it over to see a text from a friend, with the glorious words you had been waiting to hear all night:
“I can play now.”
You smile, but your eyes dart toward the top of your screen, to your phone’s clock. It’s late, a lot later than you thought it was. You can’t stay up later. Defeated, you sigh and type out:
“Sorry man, I should really go to bed. Let’s try tomorrow.”
Your friend replies quickly:
“Sounds good, have a good night, man.”
You shut off your phone and place it next to you. You think of the times you could’ve had that night with your friends. But as your daydreams slip into dreams, you think that maybe because of today, tomorrow will be better than any day.
And it just might be.
Not sure where this sudden writing inspiration spawned from, maybe it’s the fact that none of my friends are able to play video games at the moment and I really don’t wanna play Roblox Pressure alone but… (deep breaths) … I hope you enjoyed reading this. Have a good night.
Like, sure, you had that hopeful note at the end, but the majority of this thread comes off as being mopey about not being able to play with your buddies every single day, but, like, people's schedules don't need to conform to yours? You have gaming buddies. You have games that you regularly play with them. You should be thankful for that rather than being upset because one particular day didn't work out. The last time I purchased Xbox Live Gold was at least two years ago, because all the people who I used to play with decided to not play with me. I once even tried to schedule a big thing months in advance, even bought some people the game and offered to buy someone else a month of Gold so we could all play together, and literally everyone bailed, with no indication of ever trying to plan a new date. So, you'll have to forgive me if I'm not particularly sympathetic to you being told "maybe tomorrow" or a friend being willing to play a bit later than you would've liked. Plus, you should really try to get some games you can play solo. Usually when I start my gaming sessions, I pop onto FFCC to see if there are any lobbies up, but if there aren't (and there usually aren't, FFCC isn't a terribly popular game, sad face) I still have a bunch of games I can play alone. That way, instead of sitting there feeling bad that none of your buddies are online, you can at least do something else while you wait for a response.

5 답변I've had this happen on occasion but since I only play one online game and the rest are single player I don't have a problem playing with myself. Wait..........that came out differently than I intended..........I meant playing solo............you know, games that you play alone when no one's around............forget I said anything. 😳

I’m either the youngest in my friend group or the least busy so all my friends have kinda grown up and got jobs or relationships and don’t have time to play games with me anymore. We still talk plenty, just not game. We used to play like every night or every week. It sucks. But we’ve all moved on in life, myself included. It’s just still kinda bittersweet to think about all the countless hours with my friends spent on games. I miss those.
but hey Phoenix Wright has never left me lonely ✋😔
