I would like to give some constructive feedback about the "fading light" mechanic.
For people unfamiliar: Fading light occurs when someone in your fireteam is dead, and the current encounter has res-tokens enabled.
I understand the need for res-tokens and think they add a lot of fun and challenge in higher level activity. However me and my fireteam mates are generally getting upset so many times when we are about to crush a boss after a long battle (say for example the -blam!- bossfight in iconoclasm co-op, but also in higher difficulity challenges) and we basicly wipe because 1 teammate died a minute ago, while the others could clutch it.
We as a fireteam struggle to see any valid reason to have this mechanic in place, since it kills the fun and it denies any sort of "hero" or "become legend" moment where we can all praise the person who clutched the encounter. We would love to see this removed and let us at least keep on trying untill we are either dead or victorious.
To me and my fireteam, "Fading Light" feels like an artificial way of wiping a team, while it should be the enemy amount/damage or encounter mechanics that should try and kill the one or two persons trying to clutch.
I was wondering what you all think of this.
I also love to talk about suitable replacements or improvements if there actually is a fair enough reason to have this mechanic in place.
It's really one of the few flaws in d2 we experience as a team, we love the game and have been playing from beta d1.
Thanks for reading,
