Why is everything so tedious and a pain this expansion ?

Khvostov, a long and boring grind to obtain, mandatory "Cooperative focus mode" for rank up and for the Exotic, feels like a maliciously designed game mode, which is anti player fun. Ritual Pathfinder is a mess and throws out everything good about the bounty system, Duel Destiny which I hear is also awful for solo players, the Prismatic fragments which were annoying to get, slogging through cyst missions. Nothing Feels like the fun I was having just last season and everything feels like a chore. I like grind, but not when its so boring yet complex at the same time.

    • Why is everything so tedious and a pain? Um probably because you suffer from issues like many other players. I play video games for entertainment because that is what they are for. I'd have to be a complete idiot to play a video game that's not fun and entertaining. I'd have to be mentally ill to play a videogame that is a pain to play.

    • I usually have the "I'm a collector" mentality, but the microcosm and dual destiny missions aren't really worth the self-harm thoughts. After slogging through the khvostov quest, you really realize just how not fun bungie makes this game. The class item and trace really aren't worth making my mental health issues worse

    • I’m here reading your comment instead of enjoying Destiny time. That sums up TFS for me. I’m just upgrading my weapons playing through the pathfinder. Nightfall, vanguard strikes, gambit and very little pvp. My game history backs me up.

        • Well I'm soooo not the guy to say whadda you mean, I did it while on the toilet getting ball surgery, a root canal and a prostate exam and...and i held the control with my feet. Yeah, not that guy. I've been trying to put my finger on wtf it is about this DLC. I think its the repetitiveness about it all. Long drawn out repetitive tasks. Its not like RPG game, like morrowind, or skyrym, fallout, etc. Oh there's some wicked sword you gotta have, go see the crusty old dude in the village, he knows about it. Well now, you go see the dude and he's not there, because his wife vanished in some cave while picking snozzberries and crusty old dude is in the cave and fell into a pit and needs rescuing. Ok, you just go to the cave. Nope, you gotta find it. Hey you need the cosmic compass to find it. Well guess what, there is another crusty old dude that has it 10 villages away but he lost it in his unmowed 4foot high lawn, and his lawn mower is broke. Yup, you guessed it, you gotta fix his frigging lawnmower. No biggie how hard can it be? Right..., but there's only one spark plug in skyrym and his -blam!- son fired it from his sling shot and now it's embedded in some dragon's -blam!-. Anyway, by the time you're done you pissed away 3 days, visited half the people in the realm, and you forgot why the hell you were doing it. BUT, nothing was the same, every step was a new adventure. Here, its go get blown up by some moths, then go get blown up by some moths, then go get blown up by some moths...for hours. That paracausal thing. Holy crap. Hunt this ghost, now take it outside and do a bunch of overthrows, now go do a cyst, get blown up by some moths. Now hunt that ghost, take it outside, do a bunch of overthrows, do a cyst and get melted in a lava room. Now go hunt this ghost, take it outside, etc, etc, frigging etc. yeah, the game is somewhat fun, but damn you're stuck in groundhog day.

          • Glad I didn't buy this. This game stopped being fun too long ago. Too much focus on manufactured playtime rather than actual fun activities.

            • The reason is this update was designed to be run co op not solo and as someone who runs probably 95% time solo I’ve noticed it more than any other update. Also the difficulty has been jacked up to placate the streamers and hardcore no lifers more than previously.

                • I feel the same way, honestly. I’m a solo player, mostly, and haven’t bothered with the exotic class items, or even getting Microcosm. The prismatic fragments were an absolute chore to get, and they’re all pretty mediocre.

                  • While I really really liked the Co-op focused missions I do think the reward was a poor choice. They could have made those missions give a Skimmer, and Emblem, a Shader, maybe... a multiplayer emote???? But no they choose one of the hyped up exotics. I don't think the team was really considering accessibility when crafting the final shape. Yes I understand team work and playing with others is a BIG part of Destiny but the fact of the matter is there are tens of thousands of people who opt to play solo for varying reasons. Having say a raid exotic as a drop from the raid is something that is fairly reasonable and acceptable at this point. However I don't think that is the way the team should be leaning. Microcosm and class item exotics were both presented as things for everyone to get excited for in TFS. Sadly for a large chunk of people this turned in to disappointment and frustration. Experimentation is fine and can yield great result but it is better if you don't try to hamstring people in to this stuff. Yes both Co op focusing and Duel destiny are great missions and a ton of fun BUT what if they weren't? What if they had been total stinkers? If they had been then you would have had a failed experiment and an absolute mountain of negative feedback about having a huge reward locked behind a gimmick activity. Until you can establish something like co op focusing as a part of an activity you are better to have slight trinkets as the reward. Even then the reward should be something to suit the activity it is tied to. For example maybe an exotic Class item that derives its power from being used with other guardians using that same exotic (get it co op focusing) To this day my biggest problem with Conditional finality is that it is a Raid exotic that is made for Nightfalls, Lost sectors, and PVP. Like why the heck is that a raid reward????????? Give me something that is going to be good in the raid please. Give me a support weapon that helps the group, give me something that dose good DPS, Give me something to help make my job in a given raid easier. I feel bungie could do with taking more time to consider where a reward is going to be used and then having it be made available adjacent to that content.

                    • Bungie caters to sweats and streamers. That’s why their player base dwindled to what it was before Pale Heart and why it will return to that soon enough. Even the guys Saying best expansion ever or the missions are awesome. Casuals are the majority of their players and making them feel excluded from things is what makes them quit playing the game. No one wants to come home from their Job to feel like they’re doing another Job. 🙄

                        • Same with Echoes. The Hydra boss in the Expert Breach Executable is just chipping away the health with primaries because going out to find ammo results in death in .5 seconds. The other two on Expert are not much better in that regard.

                          • Because the game is dead! 🤣🤣🤣 This is what happens when the devs making this game have no clue what they are doing. They just don’t know how to make videogames. Some of them are not even real game developers. That’s what you get when people that make videogames are not real game developers. Progression in videogames should at least feel organic. It means the flow should feel as natural as possible as you progress throughout the game. If there is a powercreep occurring in a game, that is a poorly designed game. That’s what happened here. Because you have people that are not real game developers making this empty and dead game. It’s a disaster! 🤣🤣🤣 Absolute Disaster!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!

                            • its throttled to spread out the play time to show retention of players and play time so it looks good on paper the flashing icons and over engineered sounds are no different than a slot machine to click the button cuzit bugs or entices people the repetitive motions and habits make you act without thinking to get your reward even when its nothing of substance no different than training a dog with treats to do tricks Pavlovian conditioning and weaponized social manipulation all companies do it every thing down to the color of the paint on the wall is to push you in to acting a specific way on a subliminal level there is many papers published about it do some research if you are up for it its a scary rabbit hole you have been warned

                                  Dude I’m never touching the Pale Heart again. It took me like 12 hours to get Khovostov. Thankfully I got some Pale Heart engrams along the way. Used all of them and managed to get the patterns for Someday. That’s all for me. I don’t even know if I want to go get the Prismatic fragments. I’m certainly not getting any other Aspects or Supers. I already have Stylish and the Clone, and I have Smoke Bomb and Swarm, so I’m chilling.

                                    • After I banish Prismatic and Dual Destiny of my playstyle (and this bizarre Echo Episode), I got more fun, playing Strikes and Knightfalls, even the Iron Banner looks better now.
