Hi, day 1 D1 player here. I'm sure this topic has been beat to death but I know the community is still pretty angry with Bungie about the un-sunsetting situation and I have a sort of compromise I think would help rebuild the community's trust in the dev team.
When sunsetting first happened, there was a lot of speculation among the community if we should actually dismantle our sunset items or if they would be brought back in the future. I held onto mine for a while like a majority of the other players, but eventually decided to dismantle it all after a message from Bungie, reassuring us that we were safe to dismantle those items and they would never be used in the game again.
Now, considering Bungie has gone back on their word, some sort of compromise or at the very least an apology would be appreciated by us players.
Maybe Bungie could offer every player 5-10 free rolls of previously sunset weapons of our choosing from collections. That way were not guaranteed to get our god rolls back from the graveyard, but at least we would have a chance to get some of those favorite weapons back.
Otherwise if there's no good way to do the 5-10 free weapon picks. Maybe at least give us a weekly rotation of sunset weapons to be purchased from Xur or Rahool, similar to what Xur is doing with sunset armor sets currently. This would be seasonal sets of weapons (for example maybe this week you could purchase the black armory weapons from Xur. On top of helping rebuild the relationship between the player base and the devs, this would give us players another thing to look forward to every week. Everyone would be so excited and content creators could put out videos saying "Xur's got Kindled Orchid this week, make sure you stop by and go for that god roll!" To clarify these drops would be randomized, NOT CURATED.
Thanks so much to anyone that takes the time to read this. If you agree, please spread this post so the it has a higher probability of getting passed up to the devs.
Look I understand but I think it’s just in our best interest to move on.
We’ll never get any kind of apology from bungie.
I’d rather see the community at large move onwards and focus on other more positive things.
Beating a dead horse after it’s already popped due to rot is just not something that need be done.
If it’s just an apology then “I’m sorry you deleted all those cherished rolls but it’s time to let go.”
I’m just a regular joe casual player that’s been here since the beginning, and I also deleted most of my favorite gear. But what’s past is past time to get new gear.
Carry on Guardian.
Sincerely: Commander wildberry blue
