Trying to join up with my son who is in the same house we can join up in open world together or orbit but then can’t both join when going into Onslaught or the exotic missions. We have no problems joining up on other games.

UPnP is the only supported configuration when playing Destiny 2 on multiple of the same devices from the same network. Configuring port forwarding or a DMZ at the same time as UPnP will cause conflicts. https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049496531-Network-Troubleshooting-Guide
