Remember when Bungie ended sunsetting and the playerbase asked if their sunsetted weapons were gonna be unset and they said it may have been an unfortunate decision but they weren't ever going to revert any weapons that had already been sunsetted.
So the majority of the players took this statement as evidence to delete their weapons because there was no chance they were ever going to be usable again.
Does anyone else remember that?
BUNGO STRAIGHT UP LIED TO THE ENTIRE FANBASE AND WERE JUST CHILL WITH THAT, SERIOUSLY?
Edit: So from reading responses it is quite clear some people have no idea what lie I'm referring to. The lie does not refer to sunsetting in general, but instead when they discontinued sunsetting.

Here is a link to the update by Bungie that started this, under the section REWARDS THAT MATTER is were they discussed no longer sunsetting weapons in the future.
This was a W, what the playerbase wanted as we were done with losing our weapons. But after this update many players weren't 100% clear on the status of weapons already affected by sunset. This update doesn't specifically state that it would never come back.
So is that it then, it was all miscommunication, NO. Because after this many players started asking "what about our weapons?". This led Bungie to make a forum post flat out telling us "No, we will not be reverting any weapons already affected by sunsetting".
(I will link the post here once I find it, going back 3 years in the Bungie forums ain't an easy task)
This was the lie by Bungie. This is the lie that people are referring too.
Edit #2: I can't believe I actually have to say this but If you have a different opinion and don't think Bungie lied that is perfectly alright. You have the right to do so, but insulting and belittling people just because they have a different stance is just plain stupid.

They got new leadership and changed directions. Don’t make them reverse decisions because YOU made a decision to delete your old weapons. You made a decision based on what Bungie knew to be the truth. Is it disrespectful of your time? YES. They already proved to be disrespectful when they sunset our gear. There is nothing new with this stuff. They go back and forth on -blam!-, so this is just one of them. Just don’t ask them to keep bringing back all your old weapons because most of them are trash now anyways! Ask for NEW things, new ideas, new concepts. Don’t give them an easy out by asking for old -blam!- back because most of them return as a shell of its former self.

2 답변I wouldn't call a change of heart lying. That's like me getting upset with my missus if I ask her if she's going to her cousins birthday, she says "no", then a couple days later she says "actually, I will go to that party" Moral of the story: Go outside, you're embarrassing yourself

1 답변작성자: Spicy Water 4/28/2024 10:55:11 PMIf people got this mad about companies who lied/deceived about features of products and services that actually matter to society, the world would be a better place. But no, I don’t care that Bungie lied about my powercrept video game guns being power capped forever.

It’s literally been 3 1/2 years. They’re allowed to change their minds. If I can say “I hate sushi” and then 3 years later say that I love sushi, I have no right to complain when Bungie does the same thing. They’re a triple-A studio, but the devs that make this are people too. They’re allowed to change their mind after that long. I’m willing to bet that 1/2 the people that made that decision back then aren’t there anymore too

4 답변This forums has been consistently full of the biggest babies on the planet. There is this thing called “changing your mind” and it can happen for a ten year lifespan of a game. I know this concept is foreign to you, considering how many times the people on here will straight up lie and instead of admitting you did, will just double down and act like a child. So keep on crying and giving us free entertainment, also at the same time wondering why Bungie doesn’t take this forums seriously.

13 답변Don't bother with the ones trying to troll you. It's the same ones that say the RNG in this game isn't rigged, but never mind that this developer hired people to rig the system when they added loot boxes in Destiny one. All developers lie, just not all of them lie as much as this one does.

7 답변Well Khakis released a video this past Thursday about Bungie said that all the weapons that were sun settled was going to be able to be used all the way to the final shape dlc. Funny thing is that I have most of them and tried to increase their lvl without success. So is this a lie then!

5 답변I typically don’t respond to the zombie like hordes of casuals posting about the inspired, insightful and monumental steps Bungie takes to keep Destiny relevant. I find the common casual has no understanding of elegant games design or the ability to show proper gratitude.

1 답변Can’t believe it. Bungie? Lying! Never happened before. Astounding. Gonna write a strongly worded letter to my local legislator

I think most people don't care because simply they just aren't going to use those old guns since they just aren't as good anymore.(crappier perks, less build synergy and no origin traits) There is like a handful of weapons at best from everything that was sunset that people might use and most of them are either reprised or can be claimed from collections.
