Consider playing Halo Infinite, its much better feel... hehe Im just joking. That game is also terrible.
But theres plenty of shooters that feel better than D2 imo. The classic Bungie Halos, Helldivers 2, and Doom Eternal come to mind.

Imo, it still is. I just dont like how lightning quick some of the movement is, like the strafing and sliding. Just feels off for Halo. The shops existence still makes me groan and the SBMM just doesnt even do its job. 343 is just throwing in community made content into the matchmaker now and calling it an update. The whole game and their handling of it just comes off as greedy and lazy.
