The playerbase is low.
We keep matching again and again against/with the same players.
The whole game has lost players to Diablo (even if for just a moment, because it's a new game, or for longer).
There are pools and pools.
Playing on PC is a nightmare - and consoles has it's own nightmares with Xim and Cronus.
The casuals barely touch PVP.
The loot is bad.
The promised new armor set didn't came.
Blueberries jumping off the map and laughing about that.
Team balancing is just an insane dream.
We don't know wth are the matchmaking because despite Bungie saying it's X or Y we never know what levers they are pulling on the backgroud.
So, really... why?
The game will just drag itself until the end of The Final Shape in this awful state, right?

For a long time now the point of this games pvp seems to have been to put drastically different kinds of players in the same playlist whether by choice or by necessity no matter what by hook or by crook. It's just that some people don't accept that the game can't always work like they want it to then the population starts dropping and once it starts dropping basically everyone (me too) starts making less and less sense while trying to describe why. There's also other games that just came out and the player population not being what it could be were it not for brand new games might be obscuring some of the progress that's been made.

I wouldn't say that pvp playerbase is low, it's not at all, even trials still have 200k players weekly. It's just regular players stopped playing a lot since sbmm returned in quickplay and comp after Ascendant is pointless, can't even find matches sometimes in my bracket. Only trials are somewhat chill for me and it's definitely now much worse for regular players, who want to go flawless since more than a half of players plays in the practice pool

But Bungie are afraid to let people get weapons they want everything PvP to be 'prestige' which just leads to cheating, paid carrys etc. etc.

Point of PvP: Having pvp. Pretty straight forward. People naturally want to compete against one another, especially in shooting games. Point of Trials: To have an endgame option for PvP-focused players. Yes, there are plenty of problems, but none of what you listed has anything to do with the "point of PvP/Trials" and then you ask "why" lmao.

Grabbing market share of players who aren’t good enough to play competitive games, but who have played Destiny’s pvp long enough to be competitive on it. These players are very few though, probably less than 3% of the active playerbase. Imagine Bungie making a whole video game that will target a niche within this niche!?

2 답변The one point about: “ get matched with/ against same player.” Just my understanding and how I imagine it would work: If it’s a game mode like Control- that’s supposed to be loose-sbmm, unless it’s a couple of lopsided matches, it’s probably easier and faster to keep those same players together vs finding all new players each match. Most of the players are probably around the same skill level, decent connections, and under the same kind of fireteam- mostly solos, or dues or whatever. That would be my guess, along with finding a few new players after each match, but keeping the core group together.

The real issue is playing objective related matches and having people farm kda is annoying, they'd rather have a better kda than win. As multiple people have stated over the years. Cheating is much worse than it used to be, all those third party devices that also alter weapon fire rates etc. Do what Activision did and disable one of the most popular. The endless videos on YouTube showing players literally flying around the map and killing everyone should be a wake up call for bungie. Oh wait bungie skill issue.
