I understand why people hate them, but I actually really like QTEs as long as they can be turned off in options.
As long as games don’t go overboard with them, they feel really nice to pull off.
But I also like rhythm games, so.. :p
A rhythm game is like the bestest and most perfect thing for it.
But say something like halo, it takes away player agency for a movie with fail conditions.
Nah, I like 'em in Halo. I like big cinematic finishes to fights, it lets you feel awesome, but when you just put it into a regular cutscene it feels like [i]I'm[/i] not the one pulling off the big finishing move. The way I see it, a QTE just lets me pull off the big finishing move that's not normally a thing I can do in regular gameplay, and I'm all for it.
[i]However[/i], QTE's can be really obnoxious if they go too far, and just kill the mood, which is why they should always be able to be turned off. Not to mention accessibility reasons. I'm the kind of person that would leave them on even if you give the option, though. I like 'em.
