Are you positive? I tested using multiple different weapons, and the result I got, was what I described, though I'm on Steam, so it could be a specific glitch. What are you playing on?

I play on ps5 and steam. I know the hot fix recently made the perk a little unreliable. I'd literally pick up an orb and no volatile flow was given, then it worked. I'll look into trying it again.
