With the controversy over another Titan melee super and Bungie basically saying "Titans are the melee class", it made me think about Hunter's identity (just because I happen to be playing it a lot right now). I guess their identity is meant to be mobility? If so, I never feel like I'm the most mobile class when playing Hunter. I feel like Titans beat it on that front quite easily.
Just because Hunter has a dodge doesn't make it a mobile class. Who actually uses the dodge to... dodge? I pretty much exclusively use it for the additional effects it provides. Maybe if it had an I-frame or something it would be worth using but still, I doubt it. As far as a dodge ability goes, the arc Titan's is far better because it's fast and doesn't put you into 3rd person.
These were just some random thoughts anyway.

Hunters can jump in any direction pretty quickly, this used to allow for a hunter to jump around at close range taking on multiple opponents with a Hand Cannon paired with a shotgun. (A Titan/Warlock jump is only good in the direction they are a running towards, otherwise you make for a great clay pigeon, scene does not include air-dodge.) Stomp-EE5 boots increase the height of a jump making it harder to track where the bunny... I mean Hunter disappeared to. Dodge also works in any direction, but having a reload dodge is way better and gives an instant advantage someone else might not have, like actually reloading aside from funky perks. Hunters might identify as Agility rather than Mobility. Hunters exist for close range engagements and being able to quickly hop in and out of combat.

2 답변Hunters are for long range stealth attacks. Melees are close up attacks that hunters don't go for. There's a reason hunters get a sniper for their first energy weapon in D1 while warlocks and titans got a shotgun. So in this hunters do excel. If we need to get up close it's to revive or help a team mate and that usually involves being invisible.

3 답변Titans spam shoulder charge and quickly becomes the most agile, most mobile and the fastest class in the game... It's obvious that bungie doesn't know what they are doing. I've never seen a tank be as agile, mobile and as fast as bungie's "Tank class"
-
Hunters are the agile class. If you ever played Warframe, hunters are the Loki's of the Destiny universe. Agile and cunning, deceitfully skillful yet squishy to an extent. A hunters job is that similar to a burglar, get in and out as efficiently as possible

2 답변작성자: Infamous067 2/22/2023 1:58:23 PMYou are clearly using dodge incorrectly if you think the dodge doesn’t do anything. Dodging still breaks aim assist (not to get it confused with projectile tracking). You claim titans are faster but you wanna know something ironic? Arc hunters have way better melee builds and synergy compared to titans. Heck even solar hunters have better melees than titans. Class identity got thrown out the window when subclass 3.0 became a thing. Everything that made warlocks and titans unique got gifted to hunters to easily use while locking out the other 2 from using the hunter stuff. Just look at invisibility, players cant use void 3.0 to go invisible in pvp because it requires finishers but if a hunter wanted to make a devour build they totally could. Anyways hunters have stolen all the identity from all classes to themselves so if you want to be even faster then use stomp ees.

2 답변Hunters are the identity lol I think you're confused. If there's one class that suffers from anything, it's the Warlock. We have no identity. It's constantly being parceled off to the other two, nerfed, forgotten, and limited. Solar warlock is so bad you can compare it to what it feels like to use Salvations Grip, as your main DPS weapon in a master raid boss fight. Everything says void is fine but all that tells me is that they don't use it regularly enough to notice it's obvious flaws (it's melee does no damage in PvP, chaos accelerant NEEDS to increase grenade damage, and void soul should proc on 1 damage dealt not whatever it is now). Stasis melee needs it's range back and to actually track slightly. The arc melee slide needs waaaaay better tracking in crucible. Rift animation needs to speed up. Rifts need to damage enemies when they walk in them, or titan barriers need to do no damage at all when enemies walk through them. Warlocks also need an intrinsic damage resist when in the air. As the air is our place.

작성자: Crescendoll_5555 2/21/2023 8:08:02 PMTitans were futuristic soldiers. Defenders of the city. Amazing strategists. Unrelenting forces of might against the enemies of the Last City. They used the light to empower themselves and their team. The way they used the light through striker and defender reflected that. Now, bungie hasn’t quite gone outside of this identity but they have quadrupled down on punch and it’s just unimaginative. Hunters were scouts, trailblazers that directed people to the city and discovered new worlds. They used the light to empower their weapons. Gunslinger, and Bladedancer reflected that. This has bled into Titans through Sunbreaker and Warlock through Dawnblade and Shadebinder. Now, Hunters still use their powers in their weapons as we saw with Nightstalker, Arcstrider, Revenant and Threadrunner so much hasn’t changed in their department. I think the problem lies with other classes adopting their identity. Warlocks were the wizards or priests. They studied the light unlike anyone else and used it in creative ways, like throwing a black hole or resurrecting themselves or using their body to channel lightning. There is literally a sect of warlocks that kill themselves to gain knowledge. Now, warlocks have become an amalgamation of all the classes. Voidwalker and Stormcaller line up with their original identity. Shadebinder, dawnblade and the new strand subclass all use weapons which is what the hunter identity originally was. Warlocks also stole air dodge from titans and pretty much nullified bubble with well of radiance. Don’t get too caught up in the class identities. They aren’t static and change whenever bungie wants them to.

2 답변I feel like the mobility Hunters have isn’t so much “I move fastest from point a to point b” as much as it is “I move fastest while in combat.” Dodge is faster than barricade or rift, many hunter abilities allow them to swap weapons or reload faster, their vertical movement is much faster, etc.

13 답변I really wish Bungie would rename the mobility stat to AGILITY so this semantic dance around the ‘mobility’ could be tabled once and for all. Hunters are the AGILE class with their jumps and dodges… not necessarily the MOBILE class. The obsession with speed to a position is baffling to me. There is multitudes of video breakdowns showing how much more agility/mobility advantages a hunter has during a gunfight compared to titans and warlocks.
-
Mobility is an armor perk Hunters are agility/nimble Spec-ing into the mobility perk enhances the above trait of a hunter. Faster dodge cool down, fast strafing, and boost to initial jump/s(Ie double jump) So if I were to describe… We ALL get the same benefit of boosting a stat. A hunters 100 with 100 resilience gets the same damage resistance… but a titan has their barrier tied to it. A titan boosting their mobility to 100 gets the same strafe speed and boost initial jump… But HOW the classes play out see benefits to their traits.

3 답변작성자: Qiviuq 2/22/2023 12:40:26 AMAre Hunters really complaining, when Warlocks' goodies were given to everyone? While they have the best fashion? The most powerful stuff? Hunters were literally thought as the powerful class, that's what they're meant to be. Mobility is a bonus. Good lord, almost half the players are Hunters, there's a reason for that.

6 답변
Who actually uses the dodge to... dodge?
*facepalm* You don't play pvp, do you?
-
2 답변Yeah. We got healing nades and everyone lost their minds. Everyone has a dodge now. All Titan classes are faster than any Hunter class cause of infinite shoulder charge. Top Dawn Icarus dash let's both Titan and Warlock get to lanes faster than anything on Hunter, even without perfecting their skating movement that doesn't require the mobi stat. Heavily skewing the game in favor of Titans hasn't made the numbers equalize, just made the game crappier.

1 답변I’ve always seen it as we’re the most resourceful with weaponry. Nearly all of our melees, dodges, and supers have some type of weaponry incorporated from blazing golden guns and frozen sickles, smoke bombs and shurikens, to reloading your weapons/ grabbing another throwing knife while you dodge. Compare that to Titans or Warlocks, Titans have a mix of brute body strength or blunt instruments like hammers and shields to attack and defend, and Warlocks use different types of elemental space magic or magic infused instruments that are typical in more medieval fantasy, such as swords and staffs, to support allies, and hinder enemies (buddies and childs, healing and empowering, etc)

2 답변Dodge is a very good class ability. However yes, no one will actually use it to “dodge” anything. You are also correct about hunters being the slowest class in the game, despite being the “mobility” class. Ironic
-
1 답변So basically you want Bungie to replace hunter dodge with the thruster ability. Good call! I support that 100%.
-
So here's the thing about that. Overall hunters HAVE the most mobility in the game, are there classes that can get places a little faster? Yes, and there are plenty of examples of how particular warlock subclasses and titan subclasses can outpace hunters in terms of holding down the W key. But when you think about the actual amount of good omnidirectional movement the hunter has at its disposal it's just better, I rarely play my hunter but I can tell you with certainty that the gameplay feels that much more fluid to me when compared to my main character.

It really just comes down to the identity is whatever the devs want it to be when they want to make something new for a class. It's purposefully open ended so it can be flexible when the devs want to make classes have more distinct abilities. I've always seen Hunter's movement represented in the class ability/specific kind of class jump they have. But to the devs that movement could exist in other ways. Like being very stealthy with void hunter. Or constantly rolling and sliding for melee's on Arc hunter. When it comes to the titan controversy I don't think people really take issue that it's a melee super. I think the problem is really they don't see the attractiveness of being a melee focused character. As historically it's been inconsistently viable in hard content. Also doesn't help that when Titan's do find success with strong melee damage it's been nerfed. Strand titan seeks to make Melee more viable but not in the "I do more damage." Titans are going to have easier access to woven mail which gives damage reduction. They also regularly sever targets. Meaning that on top of woven mail should allow them to close in and do melee things. But they also have an easier access to suspending targets. Which in theory should be more valuable since it's an on/off thing unlike Stasis needing to build stacks to freeze. I can see where they're going with Strand titan. It really just comes down to the numbers. As all the theory crafting in the world is effectively meaningless if you cannot close the gap in master/GM or basic raids. At the same time if Sever ends up hard nuking the enemy damage output on it's own Titan's basically return to the "good" old days of being a melting point bot. But would have a worse knock on effect of making the whole team be much harder to kill.
-
That's a whole lot of nothing you just wrote lol dodge really is essential, even in PvE, though one major issue with hunter is that we have to worry about the mobility stat in order to get the most out of our dodge. In PvE this stat kinda sucks, I think a cool way to make this stat more attractive across the board would be to introduce a "miss" chance for PvE combatants (not bosses), making it so the higher your mobility stat, the more likely an enemy projectile will land as a "miss", or a "immune.". Obviously this would have to be done with balancing of some sorts, like still keeping it a less then 30-40% chance of missing at max mobility, or cooldowns ect, but here's some food for thought when it comes to implementing identity.
-
so they nerf the dodge it used to be hard to target and hard to kill while dodging and now its just as easy to killing a dodging hunter. Hunters haven't been about speed since they took away destiny 2 vanilla system.
