Soooo I wrote like a 8 paragraph essay and then accidentally clicked the side of my screen and deleted all of it... so here is the shorter lazy version.
Every season when there is nothing to do I play D1, I have similar play times in both games yet I still find things to do in D1.
D1 feels like a world, D2 feels like a game. Engrams were tangible items you took to a historian to learn about whereas in D2 they are just big glowy loot boxes that Rahool smashes open.
We had to wait real time for banshee 44 to mail off our weapon data and bring us our guns.
We had to synthesise ammo on the battlefield instead of just sticking a pole in the ground and poking it.
We had to explore every inch of the world for little secrets that could lead us to powerful weapons. (Black spindle used to come from a secret door in a strike that only opened if you were quick enough where you could go through a separate area from an old strike which was now all taken.)
Don’t even get me started on raid exotic quests like outbreak prime that were actually hard not just a random drop.
Quality of life is nice but there is a point where it feels like you are playing a lifeless game because everything is just handed to you. You don’t have to go anywhere or do anything, you used to grind to earn exotics and level up, now you grind stat rolls and meaningless triumphs.
Another thing that made it feel like a world was that enemies where actually threatening e.g. in Wrath of the machine 1 dreg and 2 shanks spawned on left and right and 3 shanks spawned in mid, all red bar. You needed 2 guardians to kill these... as oppose to now where you could kill them in one hit without even aiming for them.
Eververse was almost ignored and xur brought eververse items with him.
Example: festival of the lost 2022, you have to pay 10 quid to access some meh cosmetics.
Dawning (Rise Of Iron): Void and Solar Thunderlord, Icebreaker, Nightfall overhaul, a free advent calendar which gave a new item every day. Thorn returned too and of course sparrow racing league... all for free.
If D1 is Elden Ring, D2 feels like an empty copy made for someone’s final computing exam.
Can’t really offer any constructive criticism here because there is none anymore, not even sure if there is a construction site anymore or just a hole in the ground to throw money into...

작성자: SolarCerberuS 11/1/2022 8:24:26 PMD1 was fun but no where near what D2 has become. The content droughts, the very limited buildcrafting, single shader per build. Now I also miss some things from D1, Iron banner weapons and armor asthetics and Artifacts for example. But alot of it is better in D2 the mod system for one gives us much more variance with builds, renders the ammo synth from D1 a non issue. Now the AI for combatants needs a tweak as enemies are far too predictable, but they were in D1 too. The exotic quests are still here just in mission form. We get more content more often with the seasonal refresh (even though I do feel the seasonal story quests lack depth and diversity) But we do get much much more in D2 than D1 Now eververse 🤷♂️ its optional and cosmetic again much more both earnable ingame and also purchasable but none of it is required, to remove eververse we would simply go back to the annual paid release with nothing new until the next paid dlc model that D1 had.

People just have short memories. Destiny 2 is a far better game than Destiny 1 was at this point by almost every measure. The one thing that Destiny 1 did better is that it had a much better progression system than D2…. And 90%of complaints about D2 stem from having to interact with D2s toxic and busted progression system. IOW—-as I’ve been saying for years—-the Milestone and Pinnacle systems are travesty, and need to die by fire. In D1 you could play any part of the game you wanted and still progress your character. So if you burned out on one part of the game you could just switch to another part and keep enjoying play. But in D2, this broken progression system corrals players into a very narrow and highly-repetitive weekly play loop sand the rest of the game is made largely irrelevant. Then that progression system is a busted RNG-based atrocity that serves no purpose but to time-gate activities like high level nightfalls. Yet has no impact on the play itself. Then you add a loadout restrictive champion system, and you have a recipe for frustration and burnout. Which keeps people from seeing that D2 is the better game, because they get focused on the sense of freedom D1 gives by LACKING those toxic systems.

I agree, D1 is still awesome, I discovered the Heroic Strikes that if you get a key can give Strike specific loot like the Darkblade Helmet, I like the cool Strike loot. Palindrome is a kinetic primary weapon, D2 it is Pali in name and shape but it isn't its old Crucible acquired or world drop.

작성자: Quiet_Bushi 10/31/2022 5:47:20 PMHey Guardian. There's no much to say, I'm afraid =/ Time has changed and Destiny has changed with it. In some ways for the better, in other for the worse. I believe the important thing is that, anyway, it has changed. A game like D1 nowadays wouldn't probably work. Some people sees D1 with other eyes, like you. I went online in D1 a couple of night ago but I logged out after few minutes. The game looked and gelt so outdated compared to what we have now... Sure, the spirit of the game was different. Bungie was different. Things change...
