Huge W. The art style of Marathon is incredible, I can’t wait to see how it translates today. Current Bungie gunplay in a more grounded game has the potential to feel phenomenal. Extraction is an interesting take and can work, I do hope it has straight PvP modes as well to compliment it though. The amount of disdain on here is scary and unhealthy, if you hate a dev so much hop off of their forums.

작성자: f3 10/20/2022 6:28:57 PMRetelling the story of the Marathon Trilogy with modernized gameplay would’ve been really cool. This live service thing does not sound really cool. It’s gross that this is what they chose to do with the IP. We could’ve had a nice, self-contained narrative, but no. It has to be another shitty live service. “Good news” my -blam!-. I bet they won’t even make control the run key, the heathens.

3 답변If it was old bungie (with the actual creators of Marathon) I’d probably be more interested in it

2 답변
It’s understood that the gameplay loop of Marathon is similar to most extraction-based shooters; choose a mission, buy and choose your loadout, drop into the map, hunt for loop and complete missions, and then extract safely. Just like with most extraction-based shooters, it’s understood that you lose all of your loot if you’re unfortunate enough to die.
So, Division Dark Zone with missions but no PVP.

1 답변So in other words they're going to wreck it. Marathon is not team-based. It's not an extraction shooter. It was one of the first good 3D games. I don't hold out much hope for it being any good under current Bungle management. Oh yeah, it didn't have an Eververse either.
The game is intended to be the “ultimate example of a living game”, it was said. Seasonal rewards and progression will be a huge part of the game, which isn’t surprising considering Bungie’s success with the Destiny series and its live services.
Welp, I was thinking it sounded pretty nifty until you said this. I’ll pass.

I saw this yesterday - very excited. Never played an extraction shooter and live service is definitely different for the series but I’m interested to see what they come up with. Destiny 2 is one of the only live service games I try to keep up with, and I still play the old Halo’s practically like they’re a live service, so I trust Bungie enough to pull it off well
