Improving the Gunsmith Reputation System: A Proposal

Gunsmith reputation is currently earned by disassembling items (1 point for Rare items, 3 points for Legendary and Exotic) and by completing Daily Gunsmith Bounties (25 points per bounty). Many have complained that even while completing multiple Daily Gunsmith bounties each day, the reputation gains feel sluggish compared to the systems in place for the various playlist Vendors. How do we address the slow nature of Gunsmith reputation accrual? - Simply reducing the amount of points needed to rank up would likely exacerbate the fact that those who play multiple characters can inherently increase their Gunsmith rank faster by completing Daily Bounties on multiple characters each day (one of the reasons previously cited for removing reputation gains from daily Vanguard bounties in the past) and as such is not a particularly great solution. Unless a specific “Gunsmith Activity” is introduced a streak bonus similar to those present in playlist activities doesn’t make particular sense. Double XP weeks would likely help to a degree, but probably not enough to satisfy players. - I would personally suggest that granting Gunsmith Reputation for extracting Deepsight Resonance from weapons and for leveling up crafted weapons may be a potential solution, given that: • Deepsight weapons and the crafting system are available to all players regardless of expansion/season pass ownership, • it would further incentivize players to participate in the crafting system, • it does not grant a substantial advantage to those playing multiple characters as doing so neither appreciably speeds up the rate at which Deepsight weapons can be obtained nor the rate at which crafted weapons gain levels, and • it follows logically from an in-game narrative stand point (learning more about guns and how to make them pleases Banshee). - I don’t have a specific recommendation as to how much reputation should be granted for DeepSight completion or weapon leveling as I don’t have a keen grasp as to how heavily players are participating in the crafting system at current: I will leave that to the devs to determine on the off chance they explore this suggestion for potential implementation.   • Something definitely needs to be done, probably in reducing the points per rank. I've wrapped Zavala twice while only gotten to 12 with Banshee. Admittedly, I have been more aggressively running strikes of late, but stil....

      • Getting gunsmith rep for deepsights & ranking up crafted weapons is a Great idea:). They should probably give rep for his repeatables as well. They definitely have to do something, because there aren’t any activities (like with other vendors) associated with Banshee that provide rep. I reset vanguard twice & almost a 3rd time. Crucible almost twice.. (I suck HARD, and play very little). Gambit… meh.. gambit, didn’t play enough to reset once. I also feel like the rep gains in gambit are slower than vanguard & crucible. They need to bring gambit & Banshee in line with crucible & Vanguard.
