Take out Invaders in Gambit

Gambit since its inception has been a "fun" and different game mode in the Destiny Universe that I enjoy and I don't want to see it go away but I feel even with the changes made this year, its still too heavily one sided. Its a PVE/PVP game mode but anyone who has spent enough time in gambit to get a title understands that Gambit weighs far to heavy into the invader or PVP aspect of this mode. One fairly decent piece of argument is the Clan war that Redeem (Gladd) and Primal (Frostbolt) had and posted on various formats. Both of these individuals are considered very top tier but in different aspects of the game. When competing against each other the more heavily dominant PVP clan was able to not only win in 2/3 but absolutely dominated in Gambit. I'm quite sure the stats Bungie receives shows that as well. If you can dominate the PVP aspect of Gambit you can control the game. I hope to see in the coming TWABs before WQ that Bungie feels this way as well. I'd like to see the Invader spawns nerf'd heavily or taken out completely. If taken out, it can still be considered PVP as you are still facing off against other players with PVE in the way or pushing that aspect. Its far too often I find myself having to focus solely on the invader and damage he/she causes then actually doing what the game mode asks, Never mind solo queuing and expecting your blueberries to help out. I would like to see some healthy changes to this game mode in the future and mainly to PVP aspect of this game mode.

  • Invasions should stay and just be toned down a bit. Heavy ammo needs to be more standardized in how it drops and enemy damage needs to be toned down. It all comes down to RNG most matches. When and how often your team gets heavy for themselves heavily sways a match one way or another. Enemies can melt you way fast in here than almost any other activity. Doesn’t need to be changed much, but with any change of heavy ammo an adjustment should be made here in enemy health.

  • I agree something needs to be done with this mode of the game but no invaders at all is a little extreme. it is my opinion that the invader is all reward and little to no risk. the only thing i would change is that if the invader is killed while invading there should be some sort of reward for the team that killed the invader or penalize the invading team because the invader died. the invader can see where everyone is and how many motes each have in their possession so he can hen peck who he wants to target and if we kill him...you just get a kill and 3 motes. nevermind the 30-45 motes they wipes from us by using a weapon that you don't even have to aim. just shoot in the air and let the weapon do the work. add to that the enemies don't shoot them and can be used as cover. i think that if we kill the invader 1/2 of the invading teams motes/boss damage should swap over to he non invading teams bank, or something to that effect. i just think that there should be a penalty for getting down while invading as the only downside to invading is your team is down one player for a brief moment but that is really negated because the other team is wasting time looking for the invader. idk...just a thought. happy hunting guardians,

    Matchmaking (freelance mode when?), boss melt and tracking rocket spam. These issues ought to be addressed asap.

    • I agree, the invade function is to powerful in the right hands, maybe it would be better if they removed invade, but introduced some other form of competitive aspect which is similar to PvP.

    • I'm going to have to disagree. Of my top 5 invasion games, I'm pretty sure I lost 3 or 4 of them. And I'm not talking 7 or 10 kills, they were all 14+ kills. If you come up 4 people that know what they're doing you can play around the invader.

      • IMO a single player shouldn't invade back to back. Either each player gets a certain amount of invades or a long cooldown for said person who invaded.

      • I watched the challenge live. ifrostbolt and Priml won because mostly all they focus on is pvp, while Gladd and redeem are much more focused on pve, plus Gladd has been playing a lot of other games waiting for Witchqueen, hes very average at pvp as well. If youve ever watched ifrostbolt on twitch u will know hes absolutely cracked at pvp. Anyways, the mode is fine as is with maybe minor tweaks. Invasions are fine, its part of the mode

      • True, for people that like PVP there's Crucible with it's numerous modes (maybe Rumble would suit them best?), Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris. They should try a weekly Gambit modifier in which there are no invasions and PVE only mechanics must be relied on to defeat the enemy team. As it is there are a lot of games where no one from either team goes through the invasion portal even when it's been open for a while. I think invasions are a kind of niche play style and lack mainstream (for Gambit) interest. Many players would be happy without it. Or create a freelance Gambit mode (I doubt this would work out better though but it's worth a try as a kind of seasonal pilot).

        • I don’t think they need to remove the invader. Maybe take out the heavy ammo generation and only let it drop from enemies. Then the invader would have to participate in the ad clearing to get their ammo Maybe take down the amount of health and shields they get also.

        • agreed, make gambit more pve focused, like gambit prime, less invaders OH MAKE INVADERS GO THROUGH AN OBSTACLE COURSE (JUMPING PUZZLE) TO REACH THE ENEMY SIDE, also maybe only capable of invading every 25 motes when enemy has summoned primeval OR enemy team has more motes than your own team. Had the enemy invader chase me around until i jumped into a portal, was doing the deposit all 3 blockers bounty for bright dust. then the invader jumps through the portal after me and insta fusion rifle kills me with 5 seconds left on timer. also you can't snipethem when they use truth/eyes of tomorrow/gjallaarhorn etc. INVADERS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE ENEMY MAPS PORTALS

        • I stink at pvp yet I can take invaders out pretty easily. I know where they spawn and they glow bright red. If they are tracking someone else, they are dead. One on one is a different story usually, but it's always fun.

            Invading is the only fun thing about gambit, without it then it would be as boring as running a regular strike. Plus invading is the possible only way solos can beat stacks.
