Ok hear me out, bungie:
We guardians love the unique, sleek, cool, and quirky designs of the sparrows you create for us…buuuuut how many situations where do PvE content where we need a fast & protective sparrow, ten times out of ten you use nothing but Always on Time if you have it? Wouldn’t a guardian love to have those same perks that Always On Time has, but on their favorite sparrow? Well now, they can with my proposal:
Introducing Sparrow 2.0: Where guardians can roam freely, quickly, and strongly without taking 2 little enemy pew-pews that’ll set their ride into flames (and not the cool of flames like Burnout). I’m talking about a masterwork system for guardians’ sparrows, much like weapons or Ghosts (sorry ships, just in orbit to only load into an activity). Each sparrow can have slotted, unique perks: from faster speed, to protection against enemies nearby, faster cooldowns, burst of thrust, and my personal favorite, BRINGING BACK HORNS. Just some examples that would give a guardian their favorite sparrow usage in PvE content cause it shines out for themselves rather than staying stuck on one specific sparrow.

I want them to add weapons to the sparrows, similar to Pikes. Both blasters with different firing rates and damage, as well as drop bouncy bombs when rolling to the side, and other fun stuff. Would also be fun to have missions where you fly around in your ship and shoot down enemy fighters, drop ships, carriers, do bombing runs and all sorts of fun stuff.

Now that House of Light are allies with us, i really want to have a Vanguard or Guardian related/version of the Eliksni Pike... Then again im content with simply upgrading my Trials of Osiris sparrow like you've suggested. Like theres mods that would be interesting to use on sparrows and could be unique, like remember D1 sparrow where the longer your boost the faster you go but at the cost of damaging your Sparrow!? Stuff like that. They'd have to make Exploration on destinations more fun though because thats where we mostly see sparrows being used.

Would be awesome if they made some exotic ones that shot or a 6 man beast for a raid vehicle you could put in your sparrow slot. I realize people would somehow use that to create an advantage for themselves but honestly at this point for PvE I don’t even care if someone has everything in 5 minutes and is level 2 million I’m just trying to have fun playing my game at this point. To clarify that’s in PvE too not PvP.

Be cool to get a unique horn to each exotic sparrow. Or at least a a unique horn to the very specific exotic sparrows. Like that train one you had for dawning. Be funny to have a train horn for it. Or while it drives, a faint train on the tracks sound plays. I don’t want horns to be droppable loot though or rewards. Just have a horn be unique to the exotic sparrow. Doesn’t have to be super loud or anything. Just enough to get a chuckle or so out of it.

Agree with main post and allow us to obtain a sparrow without activities that force us to do things we don’t want to do. Whoever in Bungie thinks of these ideas is beyond me. Let us customise our sparrow with more options like larger boosters for enhanced speed, lasers, rockets etc. Allow us to shoot on our clan team mates with the sparrow and we can have some fun along the way to the destination. Is that not the point of the game to have fun! ʘ‿ʘ

Just another thing that bungie went backwards on. In D1, my favorite mode by far was SRL. I loved it, and was highly addicted.... top 1% MMR lol. It got to a point where everyone I was racing with, all of us were finishing the race with tenth's of a second between each other. It was competitive and very fun. Not to mention the sparrow designs were sweet, especially the SRL themed sparrow with the matching suit that had racing lights on it. I also miss the horn. Before I ever team-splatted an ally in strikes, I would do a troll honk theme. It was fun and provided the LULs. I will never understand Bungie's thought process going into D2 with sparrows. Why take away such great features?
