This floor looks a bit more unfinished than the one below, with some of the drywall clearly visible. A dotted trail of blood, likely from the man you shot, leads to a door near the end of the hall. Your other attacker seems to have vanished for the time being.

The moment you open that door, the man inside fires a spray of gunfire at you while shouting at someone to move. Soon after, your attacker from the stairs bursts out of a room, now armed with a two hand crossbows. A door behind you is flung open as well, and a third thug rushes you with a large dagger. It appears you’ve walked into an ambush!

Your shot hits, and he tumbles to the ground injured. Luckily, the gunfire misses you entirely. It instead hits the ceiling, causing splinters of wood and dust to lightly obscure the area. The man with the crossbows meanwhile takes aim.
