After the changes to its damage, it’s kinda been put in a super weird spot with no real merit for its existence.
1. Does less damage than just throwing any of the grenades
2. Has a painfully slow cast time
3. 14m range but doesn’t push back unless @12m (this is slug shotgun territory)
4. Push back is negligible
5. Does self damage(THIS IS DUMB)
These are fatal issues. The one utility it was supposed to have(push back) is irrelevant. The charge time makes it useless in most scenarios. Any scenario where you would use it preemptively would be better served with most special weapons or a melee(which also does more damage)
Although Void 2.0 is coming out soon. I can’t imagine a single situation where this ability serves any purpose that isn’t better served by a regular grenade. Even if there was some aspect or fragment that directly benefited handheld, that’s a similar situation to the blink/astrocyte issue. If an ability is so weak that it needs an exotic or aspect just to make it usable then there’s something fundamentally wrong with the ability.
I’m not saying it needs to be a one shot ability but there’s no reason for its existence right now. There are only two ways I could see this issue being solved. Make it a one shot, but give it a separate and longer cooldown. Or keep the damage, have a shorter cooldown, and make the pushback significantly stronger while functioning at max range.
