The flawless incentive is part of what makes it hard to have a constant freelance queue. If you have that and the team thing going at the same time then it kind of has to be set up to where only the absolute best players go flawless. If its not set up like that then it just creates other problems for later weeks. But with solos mixed in the game can make it so that lower skilled players can go flawless too and way more often than they would otherwise.
Splitting the playlist more or less turns it into old trials over time just with a solo queue. I play the game 99.9999% solo and probably have some of the most solo PvP matches played, but even I can admit that its not the best approach if they want to keep the most people playing over time possible and having it look like people are actually earning their flawless runs while doing so.
Its always an option they can go with but if they do go with that and they keep card based matchmaking, which imo is in reality one of the reasons trials has done so well, then there's just going to be a lot of people that get locked out of even being able to hope they can go flawless, especially in the team queue.
