I am a school teacher and I do not have a lot of money to spend. I try to buy things that will last so I invest in games that can entertain for long time with manageable costs. My entire family plays Destiny. Before season passes existed, we could play on 4 systems but only had to pay for 2 DLC's using game share. When season passes became separate, we purchased 2 DLC and then separately 2 additional season passes so we can play all the content. Costs went up but not too much, but then comes The Witch Queen.
Example Previous Cost: Beyond Light DD Bundle:
Beyond Light DD DLC ($70) x 2 = $140
Additional seasons ($40) x 2 = $80
Total cost $220.
This seemed reasonable for a years worth of content for 4 people. ($55 per person)
Now Witch Queen:
Witch Queen Digital Deluxe Bundle + 30th Ani ($100) x 4 = $400
Total cost $400 (Saves $20 buying in the bundle.)
The increase in price is nearly double. ($100 per person)
Another option is I could purchase 2 DD Bundles then 2 additional season passes and 2 additional 30th Anniversary packs at regular cost. But we will miss out on the 2 extra dungeons.
WQ DD +30th Ani ($100) x 2 = $200
30th Ani ($25) x 2 = $50
4 seasons ($40 assuming) x 2 = $80
2 Dungeons x 2 = ?
Subtotal cost $330
Let's say the 2 dungeons were $10 each.
Total cost $370. ($92.50 per person)
$92.50 vs $100 This is cheaper but it's a gamble and knowing my RNG I'd rather play it safe and buy 4 bundles.
FYI my 4 year old loves playing with us in missions, public events and strikes. Soon we will need 6 systems (my fireteam is complete) to play in the house and my costs are going to skyrocket.
I want to keep playing Destiny, but it's going to cost so much.
I am not asking for any handouts or favors. Just saying my 2 cents.
Thank you for reading my rant.
TL:DR
Please have game share pricing options to help families save money.

Some people are misunderstanding the post. I'll explain once and leave it at that. Video Games is one of the many things we do as a family. Externally we go to the park, beach, do sports, camping etc. Internally we have video night, board game, 2000 piece puzzles and video games. Homework, chores and responsibilities are always first. We play destiny together as a fireteam and not just separately. My most serious kids and I do almost every content from Story to even Gambit. My less serious ones only do patrols, strikes and pinnacles. With the help of 1 or 2 additional family members or friends, I have done Raids with my entire family but not including my 4 yo (yet). People say I am spoiling my kids and while I agree that each child does not NEED their own video game system, unfortunately for D2 you do. My kids are hard-working, responsible, family oriented, positive, friendly and serving the community. They might have one nice toy, but they are definitely not spoiled brats. Maybe come see them before making assumptions and saying harsh remarks. Yes, they could purchase their own copies of the game, as some of them have jobs, but because it is family time I buy D2 for the family. My Rant was in the rising cost for D2 even after the split from Activision. I get it, they are business and they got to make money. Just wishing they had system in place for a family plan. (I have said my piece, I not going to respond to any more comments. Thank you for listening.)

2 답변Agreed. And it ducks. Exponentially 😞 It’s $300 for me, my mom and brother to be a fire team, and we can’t. Heck I don’t even think I can swing the $100 just for myself 😞 I miss when games were $20-30-40 sometimes $60. They were actually affordable and you could play with family and friends. 😞

I love all the parenting advice and trashing how you're doing it. When I was young I had NES and SNES and played games with my dad. I also played outside and played sports. He'd help me practice and all that. It was something we'd do when we were relaxing in the house. Have game time with kids = bad parenting?? Everything is online these days. It's the world now. Smart toaster, smart fridge, smart toilet that you can flush with alexa (probably exists lol). You people clearly don't understand giving kids toys so you can take them away as punishment.

Also aren’t the dungeons already included in the DD, so they shouldn’t be any extra? Not disagreeing with you by any means, but it seems to me you have potentially over estimated maybe?

2 답변I'm sorry to hear about your situation, mate. It has echoes of previous issues sections of the community have had with Bungies practices (ps exclusivity deal, introduction of season passes etc). I wouldn't hold my breath for Bungie making changes to their business model for you to spend less money, but i at least hope your post doesn't get the fanboy vitriol this type of feedback usually receives.

1 답변I agree the pricing model sucks and as a fellow shall we just say not alotta income atm gentlemen i just cannot justify buying witch queen its far too much for far too little. However it is awesome thay you can have a whole fire team of family members, thats cool as

2 답변I’m gonna have to agree with comments. Your kids and you can live without the video games. Realize you may love it, and so does your family, but it’s strictly your choice to spend that amount of money on DLCs and Consoles. You might have more money if you didn’t go out of your way to buy 4-6 consoles, and multiple copies of each game for that console. If you were wise you’d let your kids play what game pass offers and you and your significant other could share witch queen. Then as time goes on and resources become available you can get your kids the DLC. But in all honesty it’s borderline stupid that you’d be upset that bungies charging 100$ for a deluxe edition that includes a DLC, anniversary pack, pre Order content, and a season pass. It’s beyond reasonable. No other gaming company out there offers what your asking for and no one will as it would lose them a lot of money

1 답변작성자: Suicide Soldier 11/7/2021 3:18:35 PMIf you’re PlayStation set the other as one of the people who’ve bought the packages primary. Everyone will be able to play it. Easy peasy. Edit: the problem with bundling them though is it would all have to be purchased under one account, then you’d still run into the same problem. The best thing I can think of, is send one of em out with a lawn mower. The wife, the kids, someone can push that thing.

3 답변While it's super cool your family plays Destiny together, I don't know of many games that realistically would cater to this. As many of us know, gaming can be pretty expensive. The gameshare stuff was definitely a godsend (and still is for a lot of games) but the ability to not have to repurchase seasons on other platforms is a good tradeoff, for most of us anyway. I hate to be "that guy", but... your 4 year old plays destiny with you sometimes? Isn't it a bit.. messed up you're already letting them play a game where they're straight up killing things at 4 years old? Also, not to mention.. is that 4 year old some sort of prodigy? Don't see how a 4 year old would even figure out the controls to an FPS.

2 답변Agree the price is too high but every child in your home doesn't have to have access to every aspect of the game at all times. You can have 1 or 2 consoles with the whole pass and the others can be the f2p versions. This issue is more household management.

1 답변작성자: dadomike 11/7/2021 9:39:38 AMWhy did you do the first multiplications X2 and the witch queens X4 ? I would've thought that previously it was 70X4 = 280, and now 80x4 = 320 or 100x4 = 400 for everything.
-
1 답변That’s definitely understandable given the fact you have an entire family all playing together. On a side note, that’s something you don’t see often. It’s kinda cool.
-
2 답변Simple, just take turns and don’t have as many player ID’s. You probably need to cut down on your playing time anyway.
-
1 답변The school teacher thing checks out.
2 Dungeons x 2 = ?
So school teachery.

2 답변Well Yhea any game will cost a lot if you need to pay for 4 peoples.... Not an ideal situation you are in but I'm sure you can manage

1 답변It might be time to stop spending money on live service games for your 4 year old. Little Timmy will be disappointed but you'll just have to tell him that mom/dad can't afford to spend hundreds on a game for a toddler. My parents only let me play adventure quest until I was 10 because it was free and we couldn't afford expensive games. Sounds like you can't afford expensive games either.
-
10 답변My parents told me we cannot afford it simple as that when I was a child. Children need to be made aware they cannot always get what they want. Just giving them everything makes them not know the value of anything. And that has become a problem with you youth of today. Bungie is a business the same as any other.

13 답변You have failed as a parent here When I was younger (mega drive ps1) the only time my parents bought me games was birthday/Christmas Other than that it was up to me with Saturday jobs, paper rounds Teach your kids this , let them buy there own games

8 답변The only solution I see for your situation right now is to buy not from the official stores but instead buy / pre order from the the other reseller. At least for your PC platforms you'll spare some money. A practical example: Witch Queen Deluxe + 30 anniversary : 75€ instead of 100€ Beyond light Deluxe pre-order : less than 70€ 1 week before launch, others who pre-orderd early got it for less than 60€. I don't know if there are the same solutions/ prices for console . I guess it can help your situation.

2 답변Lmao gen z are spoiled rotten. Each kid has a system? Wtf? I came from an upper class family. No way in hell my parents would allow 2x n64, Xbox, pc etc. Sounds like you need to get your house in order first.

작성자: Olórin 11/7/2021 3:43:31 AMDamn, those kids are lucky af, I'd ask for something as a yute and I would be prepared for either a yes or a no. If its a no and i couldnt have it then thats understandable, growing up in bad area in the UK and not so great financial status, you learn quickly as a child under those circumstances that things just cannot be handed out to you on a plate. You also start valuing things a little more when you yourself earned it imo. If it was a yes then I'd be grateful for what was given to me but that doesnt mean i should expect free things in the future, if something broke i saved up enough to buy a replacement. If i wanted something that wasn't on a special occasion (Birthday/Christmas etc.) then I'd save up to buy what I wanted. Anyways as for your post, if youre on xbox you can gameshare accounts but even then it'll still be costly. Just let your older kids play on your account, gameshare with another account and create a crappy Titan character and let your 4yo go wild on that one? They both wanna just mash buttons and they both love the smell of Crayola in the mornin'.

If you're on Xbox or Playstation I believe you'd only need to buy it twice. You could game share or license transfer between two pairs of your systems. And if you're on Xbox, it might just be more worth it to get gamepass. All current expansions are on gamepass, so you'd only have to spend $40 per season.
