I think you need to start running higher difficulty NF's if you're going for Platinum for the NF weapons.
The drop rates for NF weapons at lower difficulties is hilariously low and not worth the time.

I agree, and that's typically what I do, unless there's a "They Were the Champions" Bounty from Zavala. I jump into NF matchmaking specifically for that bounty because it's an easy way to complete it. The experience of encountering a Speedrunner who caused this scenario, along with a recollection that there were a number of posts about speedrunners prompted me to ask for opinions. Just as a way to gather some information about the general consensus.

If you're trying to complete bounties, you can load into a Legend NF completely solo and knock the bounties out real quick. Nobody will interrupt you. Legend NF's are 1320 activities and your characters are at 1349/1350/1351. You should have zero issues with enemies.

None of that is an issue. You literally complete the only Nightfall-oriented bounty without trying, even if someone is speedrunning. The question was about how people viewed the loot at the end of the Strike being lower, due to Speedrunners causing champions to despawn. As in, lower than Platinum rewards.

To answer your question fully and directly, if you're going for a specific objective, you should set up your own fireteam consisting of people with the same objective. So if you're going for NF weapons, team up with other people that are also trying to go for NF weapons. Plenty of groups out there farming NF's for NF drops.
