Here’s what I always thought. So you know how season of arrivals is about alien( the darkness) contact? I always associated the labyrinth with a corn maze because of how alien contact in media is often associated with symbols left in corn fields. So that’s why it always figured it was a labyrinth, but the whole transformation definition thingy you found also makes a lot of sense. However I don’t know if the whole transformation thing fits with the theme of the season of arrivals, which also uses that symbol
Season of arrivals marked a era of transformation didn’t it? Darkness returned, the powers of stasis revealed shortly thereafter. The entire season itself was about how the arrival of the darkness transformed the tree in the cradle.
Yes, that’s true, but I think they chose the “labyrinth” looking symbol because it looks like symbols that aliens have left in fields as a way of making contact. These can be seen all over media, especially in the movie “signs”. The whole “contact” part of it goes with the season, as we are making contact with the darkness for the first time. Honestly they are both very good points, and it could be both. We see a lot of things in destiny are looked into very deeply. They could have came up with the seasons symbol because it spoke contact, but after looking into the meaning of a labyrinth they may have decided to use it as inspiration for the seasonal exotic.
