Something that I’ve wondered ever since I got the ruinous effigy was what the perk’s image represented. Through a series of what can only be described as sheer dumb luck I stumbled upon the answer: the symbol represents a labyrinth.
Labyrinths tend have a meaning of transformation, but in particular, a predetermined one.
(This post is less about the actual ramifications and lore of the symbol, but more of sharing what the symbol itself is.)

I always associated the labyrinth with a corn maze because of how alien contact in media is often associated with symbols left in corn fields. So that’s why it always figured it was a labyrinth, but the whole transformation definition thingy you found also makes a lot of sense. However I don’t know if the whole transformation thing fits with the theme of the season of arrivals, which also uses that symbol

1 답변I always figured it represented the cradle on IO as that was where the tree of silver wings was located and ruinous effigy was made from the tree
Labyrinths tend have a meaning of transformation, but in particular, a predetermined one.
Enemies you kill with it transform into transmutation spheres. Transmutation is “the action of changing or the state of being changed into another form.”
