I've tried to do a search to see if others have come across the same issue but here it is outlined:
- I have cross save enabled on 4 platforms (PSN, Steam, Xbox and Stadia)
- One of my platforms (Xbox) was linked a long time ago and is now associated to an Xbox LIVE account that no longer exists as I consolidated multiple Xbox LIVE accounts
- Once I closed down the Xbox LIVE account that was associated to my Bungie.net profile, I transferred my gamertag to my main Xbox account, thinking the association of my Xbox LIVE account was the gamertag. Instead, it appears to be the email address
- Now that the Xbox LIVE account has been deleted, I can't remove this account from my Bungie.net list of linked account because I can't authenticate an account that no longer exists
- Because I can't authenticate that account, I can't remove it and I can't deactive cross-save
I see 2 solutions here (from my limited technical knowledge)
- Allow a one time opportunity to remove linked accounts and associations
- Change the association on linked accounts to the gamertag as opposed to the email address
I'd like to take advantage of game pass to play Destiny on my Xbox and on Xcloud, but can't now because I can't authenticate an XBL account that no longer exists. HELP!
In order to unlink an account, you must be able to authenticate it, which means you must be able to log into it. Bungie cannot forcibly de-link it.
I would suggest contacting the platform concerning recovering the account.
If you are unable to gain access to your xbox account, then you will not be able to unlink it from your current Bungie.net profile.
