Nerf Overload Champions

Overload champions are a powerful enemy to fight in any activity, but I feel they’re too strong, especially in Solo Lost Sectors. I don’t know if it’s a bug, but I keep having the recurring issue where, when Overload Shot is active on my hand cannon, I shoot the champion and it does nothing after they’ve recovered from the first stun. Like I said, I don’t know if this is a bug or a game mechanic, but I hate stunning, shooting, trying to stun again and getting my ass mopped on the floor because my gun does nothing. Secondly, that teleport is ridiculous. I had a champion teleport 20 feet behind me and behind cover, giving him the opportunity to dodge my overload shot. I’m fine with them being difficult, but if the Legendary and Master lost sectors give jack shit as a reward, then that power seems like overkill.

    Advice: for fighting them I recommend waiting a couple seconds after they’ve completed their recovery animation from the stun since it won’t work until after that. And I’m being kinda literal with that 2 second bit. Secondly swords and grenade launchers in heavy or high dps supers should be able to mop them up provided your high enough light level. If not or they seem to tanky use the chain-saw word exotic (forgot the name lol) and rev it while you go to town on the stunned overload. It’s dps is high enough that it can make up for poor light level.

    Bungie: We've noticed a lot of players are having issues with Overload champions. Now as a concept, Champions are ment to be quite literally a "pain in the ass." As they are now they fullfil their purpose and will not be changed. Also, the "bug" where you hit them with Overload rounds and it doesn't stagger them is actually a feature and will not be fixed. Community: Hey, there's a bug with an artifact mod that makes Firefly and stuff actually useful. Bungie: *we've disabled the mod* can't have y'all having fun now. *Telesto* It's been a while but guess what, I will be coming back and I'm bringing my new buddy with me. *Symmetry enters the building*

    • Yeah, I gave up doing the solo Lost Sectors for that reason. I use all my heavy ammo on one champion because every single time I hit it with a rocket or heavy grenade it gets it’s health back instantly and transports after every single hit. Just like everything else in this game just not very well thought out.

      • Hey! :) Great feedback I'm sure Bungie, will look into this. I highly recommend to have a reload masterwork and to cautiously hide when champions teleport. If you rush in while they are teleporting it creates aggression and causes them to use even more tactics. This AI implies to use a different strategy and to be more cautious. Try it! :)

      • Hey man, I always wait until they've teleported once to stun them again if needed. Not sure if it's a console limitation thing but they never stun immediately after regaining their composure for me. Plus try using a weapon with damage over time like Thorn, it helps you out a lot for overloads as your damage covers their window of opportunity to be stunned. Keep trying man, you'll find a strat that works for you 😊

        • 1) Make sure you don't have the artifact mod that causes Champions to explode when disrupted. There is a bug with the artifact mod where the explosion staggers them out of the stun immediately. 2) best options for Overload champions are either Thorn or Divinity, regardless of burn. I personally use Divinity, with a Lasting Impression rocket. Stun them, stick with rocket, bubble with Divinity before rocket goes off, and they fold over instantly. It's great.

          Omfg. Every season with this dumb ass post USE DIVINITY. INSTANT STUN If you don’t have that, use Thorn. It takes one shot and let the poison stun it. You can also use a HC with timed payload and it only takes w shots Arc grenades instantly stun GLs debuff them Lament still wrecks them Overload champions are EXTREMELY easy to take out. Just learn how to deal with them instead of crying on here

          • Continous firing on the champions stuns it, after that you need to keep hitting it. Handcannon wise use thorn due to its damage over time. But I would suggest using a SMG... You can keep up the fire.

            Absolutely not, I like the challenge, It makes me feel like I am fighting against a human. I want them left alone. Overloaded Captains are by far the funnest Even when I get a bad group on the rare occasion I cannot handle them alone because of an ammo shortage, I can fight a Duo of them for hours until help comes because they are just that fun. And I say this as someone who fights them without Seasonal mods. (Unless they offer Inferno Whip.... Because that is just too funny not to use on an Unstoppable.)

            10/10 people who -blam!- about Overload champs have not the slightest clue on how their mechanics work. For those that like percents that would be 100%. If anything they need to make every champion harder. You shouldn’t be able to damage them if you haven’t stunned them, they should be immune unless you are using the correct rounds or dealing with them properly.

          • It’s as easy as stunning and melting. Worst case, you don’t obliterate them and you just keep hitting them with overload to keep them from healing and ultimately repeat the process.

          • They aren’t strong or even hard they are just broken and annoying. I love barrier and unstoppable champions. Remove overload and keep the others.

          • Overloads are sometimes buggy. They does not get stunned always. I had issue with them in lost sector last season. Felt it should be a guaranteed reward for Platinum clear solo.

          • They have a stun cool down. This is how you deal with them: Stun, dps quickly Continuously hit them with slowly fired over load rounds until they restun Repeat The trick is you need to engage them where you have cover where you can pop shot them continuously with overload rounds. Pop from cover take a shot and pop back, pop out take a shot then pop back. If you just run in and stun and expect to just kill them is when you run into trouble. I suggest watching some of Esoterickks solo GM runs to see how to deal with them consistently. I also suggest using anarchy with breech and clear. You can pretty much one round them this way.

            Why not use an overload grenade? You'd think that if the gun wasn't working well, you'd try a different way? Maybe check out some guides if you don't like to struggle?

            • There is a cool down to prevent them from being infinitely stunned. I recommend thorn.
