Gambit - A Great Mode Rusting Away

Gambit is presently a dumpster fire. There are so many issues that make this mode unbearable to play: - Severe connection issues - Mote glitches - Teleporting enemies - Invader bugs - Boss locking - players can use tactics to lock a boss in one position, disabling the bosses ability to attack while getting melted. Feedback Reply Consensus The consensus is that Gambit is a great mode that is suffering from a lack of updates, and I agree. Perhaps it’s time for Bungie to consider a major overhaul and a quest line to go with it. I agree that Gambit at its core is a great idea. Maybe throw in a vote for this topic to put this on their radar. Suggestions for Improvement + New levels + Mode specific gear that provides mode enhancements. Raid gear does this currently. + New mode specific weapons that have mode enhancements. + New questline or exotic + Mote bug fixes - bouncing and under map bugs + Invader glitch fix - invaders occasionally get stuck on the enemy side beyond their time, not teleporting until killed. + Connection and matchmaking improvements - match players based on connection and team counts. Getting matched with people who have cheap internet ruins the experience. + Teleporting enemies fix - enemies teleport often, and even disappear + Boss improvements: no boss locking, phases, more health + Invader kills heal Primeval slightly less Random Edits • Rewrites to be constructive, including Title • Topic structure • Feedback Consensus • Suggestions for Improvement

  • Another thing to add, MORE MODES. BRING BACK RECKONING. BRING BACK PRIME. ADD TRIALS OF THE NINE TO GAMBIT PLAYLIST. Why TF does Crucible get so many modes but Gambit is reduced to one mode?

    I like gambit. I think the problem is that people get mad when they lose. It’s a competitive game mode, and some people take it seriously. There are loadouts and strategies that give you an advantage, but most people just hop in and play with whatever they were using to run strikes. Some of those come here and complain. “Dumpster Fire” Don’t get mad if you lose, and if you want to win practice, get a team, and get better at it. Edit: Even though I have not experienced it much, several people have mentioned the uncollectible mote problem, which is frustrating, and indeed an issue. Edit 2: I see the original post was modified to be more constructive, which is good. I agree with things like new maps, bug fixes, bringing back the mode specific gear, and continuous refinement of the game mode. However, I do reassert my stance that gambit is not a “Dumpster Fire”. I also think that some of the suggestions made need more definition.

    • Gambit is probably one of the biggest tragedies of this game. It has so much potential, and Bungie keeps putting emphasis on it through things like quests. The problem is Bungie doesn't want to put in the effort to make it great. So it's doing nothing, but doing stuff at the same time. So Gambit suffers the same fate as so many other things in this game. Like Guided Games, Chroma, and SRL.

    • Bro gambit is the best match made activity in the game. It has a ton of flaws but it's still the most creative thing in all of D2. I love it despite its flaws

        The only problem I’ve experienced so far are the adds teleporting. So far everything been smooth sailing. This week, I think I had some of my best games in gambit in terms of killing opposing guardians. I was able to complete the malfeasance exotic activities. Now, only if I’m a better shot with grenade launchers. I can get the o her quest done.

        • I enjoy gambit for what it is......I also agree that it needs major help. The maps are stale, the enemies are bullet sponges, players either quitting or standing around doing nothing, glitchy ads, glitchy invaders, etc. My all time faves are players running around with 15 motes either invading without banking or getting killed chasing the shiny high value target for motes they can't pick up.

        • I actually like this newest version of gambit. The most frustrating thing is blueberries that have 0 sense. Drifter tells you exactly what to do. If you can’t be bothered to play with sound (which, for gambit, is quite essential), then at least have captions on, and watch the mote count, and please, if you’re a potato, stay away from the invasion portal.

            Check my in-game Activities: I've just completed a game in Gambit that we lost because... enemies stopped to Spawn and we couldn't get Motes to Bank! So the enemy team had all the time to collect theirs, bank, summon and kill the Primevil!

            • Also unsunset the gambit and gambit prime weapons or add new ones. And when I say new I mean entirely new not a reskin of an existing model. Though bungie seems to lack the knowledge on what the word new means

            • Add stats NOT tracking to the list. Along with many other stats in the game.. Yet they refuse to even acknowledge it's a problem.

            • They have mentioned a teleporting enemies problem. My biggest issues with Gambit are heavy ammo and invasions. If one side is having heavy bricks drop early from kills, they win. Hands down. And invasions happen way too often. If your team has a primeval and the other team does not, you should NEVER be allowed to invade.

              • The problem is actually the same as crucibles problem. 1. No incentive to play really, since there’s almost no good loot and no meaningful progression. Especially for Gambit, as there is no adept version of the weapons. 2. It’s available for free to play players, and therefore does not generate the money needed for it to be worth developing. Just put both behind a $5-10 paywall and then give us new maps and rewards.

                  • Even with all this fixed, gambit still sucks. It’s good for a short while, doesn’t stack up to be a ritual thing like crucible or strikes/nightfalls. It’s basically a really cool seasonal activity that never went away.

                        I disagree, it's not a dumpster fire, it just needs to be supported/updated with things you mentioned and other things. Things like: - new maps - mote issues...whatever they did isnt working, so they need to look further into it - teleporting enemies...same as mote issues - undoing the invader nerfs...they need to either: decrease how long it takes for the portal to open; and/or increase how much we heal the primeval with kills...say that cause we can melt the primeval so fast, with how invading is currently setup, usually the first team to get one wins no matter what you do...and invading is supposed to help against that - matchmaking...no, i'm not talking about making a solo mode, talking more about making it skill-based...i know they've explained it before, but it doesnt feel the way they described when playing...most of the time it feels like 1 team is experienced and the other team isnt.... - find a way to bring back the prime outfit perks...those were fun

                        • Invaders heal the primeval too much. Invaders with eyes of tomorrow. Combantants with spam abilities. Can't bank while teammate uses the same bank slot. That's annoying. Teammates stealing your motes. I had a hunter slide under me to get a mote I was literally standing on! Blueberries.

                          • Gambit is seriously great and a lot of people who complain about the core of it simply just don't understand it or is a genuine mad cause bad situation. It really just needs some love (mainly maps) but also just make it more consistent in terms of motes and bugs and also how much damage enemies do. Otherwise all I can think of is some more/better reward structure and more reason to play it and some better matchmaking. The changes Gambit needs are pretty straight forward.

                          • My issue is that enemies in gambit are WAY too overtuned. In any other part of this game they'd go down no issue but in gambit they magically start to tank hits and hit like tanks

                            • Gambit just needed prime to be the only remaining mode. All they had to do then was simple. Adjust invaders a little. Overhaul collector and sentry armour sets to do their roles effectively. Have the meatball spawn once in a while or give drifter the item you needed for that quest......just buy it off him for 5K glimmer or something. Then it's fixing mote registration. Fixing Invaders bugging out. Solved to a point.
