Oh there's a GM Seasonal challenge? lol! No large Bright Dust payout for me then. I find it odd how much Bungie promotes Grandmaster Nightfalls, almost as if they think they're balanced and don't rely on artificial difficulty aka modifier spam. There is no mastery in these. You die to so much random and inconsistent interactions.

  • When you die in gm nightfalls its when you dont pay attention or when you get too greedy for a kill. But if you arent stupid you wont die. I did a gm earlier and out only deaths were coming because of us not paying attention to the tenebrion or not caring about a teleporting captain behind us. Things like that that never happens when you are focused. Wich should be the case in a GM.

  • There's 77 challenges total and you need 75 for the 4000 bright dust challenge so you can skip 2

Well that’s a shame Only two? Guess I’m going into GM’s & Trials & skipping that shambles called Gambit (5full rank ups) Or maybe just saying fvck it & dropping this season (participants are just padding the numbers for Bungle to claim this new ‘weekly bounty’ page a success!)

  • A little taunt, nothing more. But the final challenge asks to complete 75 challenges but there is 2 more that you can do / ignore.

  • I figured that since the challenges are getting less and less each weak and the word ALL is used to describe 75 challenges that the weeks would start having 5 and even only 1 or 2 ridiculous challenges toward final weeks.

  • 1. They poured development time and resources into their creation. 2. They are clearly someone's pet project...and they don't want to see it fail...and Bungie is doing everything possible to prop it up. The problem is that the community (as a whole) keeps making it clear that we don't like this kind of punishing content. Its unenjoyable, and none of the game's rewards are worth the headache. Yet Bungie refuses to take the feedback. I liken it to going out to a restaurant...and ordering a steak. But instead of getting a steak dinner, the chef sends you out a liver dish, because that's what he likes to make. You send the dish back because you dont' like liver and its not what you want. But instead of giving you the steak you ordered, the chef keeps stubbornly sending you back various liver dishes. Convinced that you'll LOVE liver, once you had it prepared "properly". He simply can't hear that you don't like it...and it doesn't make any difference how well its prepared or not. People who want ball-busting difficulty go play Dark Souls. They don't play Destiny.
People who want ball-busting difficulty go play Dark Souls. They don't play Destiny.
Kelly, I play both games, Is difficulty nice? yes, but not when it has requires you to bust your balls to get to sed difficult content to the point that you question whether or not it was even worth the time. I play dark souls pve because its fluid combat system is amazing to play and its super fun when you find your own playstyle. I play destiny 2 because it's fun to play because of its gunplay but it falls short because outliers always pop up, meanwhile, in dark souls, you can be effective with most weapon options in the game with minimal practice. But mostly imo my biggest complaint on PvE bosses is the lack of unpredictability and movement. As we well know most of the bosses in the game for the most part are easy to predict and you are able to respond accordingly. I'm curious to see what kind of monster Bungie could make if they had more agile movements and were less predictable. With the rewards being fantastic if you were to go up against such a challenge.

  • The bosses are predictable to you, because you've been conditioned by games that demand that you learn boss attack patterns. So you are kind of an outlier. But to people who don't play those kinds of games, the boss fights aren't that predictable.....and most of the bosses in the current game are highly mobile. The issue is Bungie's approach to difficulty. Which is just making things either: 1. Tanky and spammy. 2. Stacking negative modifiers up to nosebleed levels, or.... 3. Immunity phases. The latter is the most annoying. Its one thing to have a boss be immune while you work out a mechanic. But its ridiculous how many strike and other activity bosses just go IMMUNE for no good reason other than to simply prolong the fight. (That's the only aspect of Battlegrounds that I don't like).

  • I agree that conditioning happens with souls games, but let me tell you that I was garbage at first but I came up with my own may of doing things. Bosses and areas are tough but fun. In destiny those three things you mentioned are a serious pve problem.

  • I'd say it's more like ordering sushi at a barbeque joint. It's ridiculous to expect the chef to cater to customers by taking things off the menu that don't appeal to some when others enjoy the food. Don't order the suicide wings if you can't handle the heat. This whole idea that game designers, or any creator, somehow has an obligation to base their creation on the lowest common denominator of their audience is a terrible idea. You pay to play the game. Your access doesn't come with a guarantee you'll be able to complete everything in it. The developers make the game... if your idea of what it should be differs from theirs you can always choose to not play. Or like any rational person would do, play what you like and ignore the rest. Assuming why other people play a game smacks of arrogance.

  •
This whole idea that game designers, or any creator, somehow has an obligation to base their creation on the lowest common denominator of their audience is a terrible idea.
If you want to make money with a kind of game that requires BROAD appeal? Its a VERY good idea...and arguably a MANDATORY one. Because when you stop making money making games, people stop GIVING you money to make games. That's how capitalism works. Fact is....you have it backwards. When you have a niche taste in the marketplace, you generally have to pay a PREMIUM to have that taste satisfied. Because it is a demand that is often expensive to meet....and the market for it is too small to make a profit unless the price is very high. Which is why games like World of Warcraft charge monthly subscritption fees IN ADDITION to charging for bulk content drops (expansions). Ball-busting difficulty is not most people's idea of fun....and most people play games to have fun. Not to prove something to themselves or others. So people who want that level of difficulty (Like a Dark Souls or a Cuphead) either need to be prepared to turn to indie games (which are cheaper to make), cult-following games (like Dark Souls). Or be prepared to break open their wallets and pay a premium for games like World of Warcraft.

  • Wouldn't "broad appeal" mean incorporating aspects of the game that would satisfy the widest range of people... including the hardcore? I have no idea what the metrics show about casual versus hardcore gamers in relation to time spent playing or money spent on the game, but I bet Bungie does. Perhaps Bungie should also remove raids and Trials because they appeal to a minority of the playbase when compared to playlist strikes or story missions. Or maybe players could accept that Destiny has always been designed to attract players with varying degrees of skill and commitment. I know my degree of both has varied through the years and across the spectrum of available activities. I have over 200 raid completions but I've never been to the Lighthouse. But I'm ok with that... I don't feel the need to complete everything in the game. It's a game. No fun no bueno. I also don't have a desire to deny someone else a challenge because I can't or don't want to complete certain activities. If you want your perfect game maybe you should make it yourself.
