Because they don’t want players to be able to counter stasis without buying beyond light themselves.

Chaos reach has been unchanged for 2 years. I’ve been using it the whole time. Now that it becomes popular, they decide to nerf it. Not because it’s op, but because it’s another viable option besides stasis and ttd. The only thing mildly op about it is how it interacts with the dogshit latency protection in this game to hit people through walls, but guns do that too it’s a design flaw.

Theres no defending it tbh. Has nothing to do with stasis. Once people saw it on youtube and passed it around it became a problem. If stasis wasnt in the game and this happened the end result would be the same. And yeah of course it takes until it gets popular to get fixed. If nobody knows its broken how would they fix it?

A SUPER exists in a game with pvp unchanged for two years. That shows that the super isn’t the problem, it’s the wheels of the meta turning around it. Also it’s nowhere near op. Behemoths have been terrorizing the crucible for months now, I’d rather fight a chaos reach any day. Just quick peek and snipe them.

I know all the warlock mains here “have been using it for years” but we can see that it was not an issue until recently. Up until this season i have literally never seen a warlock get his super 4 times in a single pvp match. Yes titan stasis needs a nerf also (which they have started to do. Its in the exact same twab as the warlock nerf) but yelling “what about” doesnt change anything. More than one thing can be OP. Chaos reach needed adjusting. And you dont even know how it will look after yet your already acting like its useless now. Sorry your not gonna have 10 kills with 3 supers anymore. But its really not a big deal.

Hmmm it definitely seems to have some splash damage to hit people around corners a bit, but I believe that is 100% intentional. It is weird how it was unchanged and hardly used until stasis comes out, and now it is used as a great counter to the stasis roaming supers and catches a nerf for its one main use. Super lame.

Reach hitting around corners and through thin walls is new to Beyond Light. The damage in PvP is also noticeably higher than in Shadowkeep, and the beam now has a residual hitbox from where it was, allowing it to kill momentarily after the super ends. Dont let anyone lie to you and say it's unchanged. I mained Chaos Reach for the past year, and it was nowhere near this strong until Beyond Light dropped. And no, not everything makes it into the patch notes. Nova Warp's melee is working a bit different than in Shadowkeep, but that wasn't stated, either.
