It took me 5 hours of straight playing the 1300 nightfall to get one Pali. The drop rate is way too low. On top of the fact that almost every roll is terrible. Too much rng. Harsh rng to get the weapon, and then even more harsh rng to get even a decent roll

People say that, but RNG is RNG. The "common" NF loot for me, was less common than exotics and prisms. Either slightly buff the drop rate of the NF weapons in particular since they're rotating, or change the level exotics and prisms drop. Those can't be more "common" than a legendary weapon.

I looked at your game history and it shows that you have done only adept and heroic. You have to give legend a go before you say this. I ran about 8 legend runs the other night and got 4 pally hand cannons. It makes a big difference.

Not everyone can do legend, personal experience shows for me that lfg prep is more stress than its worth. Bungie's idea of uncommon is a lot different to everyone else's, then add on the annoyance of a possible bad role. Excitement of new loot quickly gets dropped after it has been mixed into an old stale loot pool. Like getting several cold denial pulse rifles from crucible after getting only 1 frozen orbit despite playing tons of crucible. (and it was a bad role). It wouldnt be bad if the loot pool was bigger but dropped more often, just so the carrot on the stick doesnt seem so impossible to get

That’s not a helpful comment. That does nothing to discuss the concern that loot in a loot based game does not drop frequently to reward the player for their time investment. Your response is akin to someone saying they’re having car problems and you tell them not to drive it. Yes, that does, in a way, solve the problem, but it isn’t the problem they’re trying to solve. I’m not upset I can’t get the weapons at 1230, 1270, or 1300. I’m upset that the frequency is low and that in of itself is causing me to become disinterested with grinding for the weapons. If one doesn’t get rewarded enough for their efforts, one tends to move on to something else. Unlike your comment, I’m trying to be helpful and push bungie to reward their players for time spent in their game.

I’m aware of this, though to echo some other voices in the community: rare, uncommon, and common seem to be misused by bungie when talking about the drop rates. I’m not sure where the disconnect is, but I was primarily talking about the weapons associated with the core playlist as a whole (gambit, crucible, strikes) and not just exclusively the nightfall. I understand and accept that the nightfall loot is more “guarded,” but that doesn’t mean that I agree. The core playlist weapons last season dropped like candy. I was getting 2 stars in shadow after a crucible match , even during the first week. This season, they seem to have significantly lowered the drop chances, and also included two new weapons in each activity, making the odds of getting one you like even lower than it would have been last season. I’m calling for an increase in the drop rate of the new weapons. We’ve been using the same stuff for years, some of which has reached its level cap and sunsetting requires them to fill the players inventory with new things, not be stingy.
