The devs need to change rift, it sucks and frankly is the weakest class ability in game. It doesn’t really help in pvp because extra damage at the cost of it being stationary isn’t really worth it, same for heals. It’s useful in pve but being stationary kind of limits it’s usefulness. Just make it an aoe around the player who cast it that way they can move and it can be useful.
Edit:
I’ve been reading some good replies and wanted to expand a bit on my rationale. I know some disagree with me and on good points but I still think rift is better off being mobile.
One thing I wanted to clarify is that I don’t think rift is weak, in that it’s benefits don’t matter or aren’t considerable. Rather my criticism was how sedentary the ability felt and that in pvp in particular its limitations are well presented.
Healing rift is undoubtedly useful for quick recoveries and tanking some damage but ultimately it’s used in a defensive way that I feel is situational. Anyone with common sense knows better than to rush a healing rift unless they have enough fire power to kill them quickly (even then not guaranteed).
But it comes with the ironic downside that it’s usefulness is dependent on whether an enemy decides to enter your line of sight. Same with empowering rift since all you get out of it depends on your enemy.
In pve this isn’t as much of an issue but in pvp it can make the ability unreliable outside of guaranteed healing (which is definitely a benefit!).
My point overall is I’m an aggressive warlock main who wants my class ability to reflect that, I’m sure some titans can relate. Anyways that’s just my thoughts, hope for some more constructive criticisms and alternative thoughts!

As a Warlock main, I love rifts as they are, but I understand why a more aggressive player may have issues with it. The only thing that I feel the rift lacks is a bit of versatility, since it is practically useless in close combat. I would maybe reduce the animation time of the casting and rework Vesper of Radius to do something similar to Gemini Jester. I like the idea of rifting at the corner of lanes through which apes are pushing and watching as they lose their minds lol.

1 답변Idk, when I engage a warlock at mid or long range rift seems pretty useful since they can get behind cover and instantly heal. I think your problem is your trying to use them like a hunter or titan, but warlocks really aren't build for rushing (dont get me wrong with the right setup you can) I'm a hunter main and for a long time I was always like, "why do I such so bad with my warlock" and it came down to me playing it like a hunter or titan. But eventually I found a solid build that good and now it one of my favorites for pvp.

I agree... Mostly. Barrier basically makes you a stationery target and take 3 times longer to cast it feels like. That and it offers little competitive advantage. Rift atleast heals you are make you do more damage.... 1 shotgun will destroy a barrier and its really easy to just jump over

39 답변Rift and barricade both need a faster cast time. Rift needs a slightly shorter cooldown too and the healing speed needs to be increased. Currently if you have 100 recovery you will start regenning before the rift even starts healing you :). And with the titan barricade you can die well before you put it up, or someone can just jump over it whilst you are placing it, etc.

2 답변Rift is not a panic button. It's a chess piece you move into place BEFORE you get shot at, not during.

1 답변Yeah being able to 1 tap or 2 tap with guns normally needing more shots to kill is TOTALLY weak! yeah you know what? make the damage rift wipe entire enemy teams when you place it! YEAH!! /s

1 답변There's really no getting around the problem that rift and barricade aren't mobile and give the enemy a VERY VISIBLE indication of where you are.

I main devour warlock and empowering rift is pretty good in my opinion. It’s all about set up and anticipating what the enemy does in pvp, you can eat your grenade, set up a rift down a hall or somewhere you know enemies go to and get easy pickings, it’s not the most competitive play style but it’s good if you have teammates who take advantage of the rifts.

7 답변Well it’s not COMPLETELY useless in PvP. I put it down behind cover and dip in and out to heal myself. Place the Empowering Rift halfway behind cover.
