Hey guys, there has been LOADS of conversation about DCV and sunsetting and I've attempted to think from a game dev point of view on why Bungie decided on this course of action.
I'd really love to hear you opinions too so lets have a discussion on it :) enjoy!

Removing Content is theft and Sunsetting is like working hard on my death star LEGO and some asshole comes up and smashes it on the ground making me have to do it all over, you really think I’m going to do that? Fùck no!

8 답변작성자: Knox Knox 9/28/2020 4:36:28 AMWeak! Laughable at best. One person's opinion doesn't hold any bearing when millions are playing the game. If we listen to one, we should listen to all who played. This guy is late. I don't wanna make this post longer anymore than it should be. We've all made some arguments about all of this in here. You can dig up any topic like this in these forums here and you'll have a good amount of opinions. I'll make mine short and sweet. Sunsetting is not the issue. There is no powercreep problem in the game. That's because this game is already designed to have powercreep. Everyone wants a powerful gun, and they will always find one. Hence, the issue of powercreep again. See that? This guy just said it. He doesn't want a Mountaintop 2.0, but he wants a new grenade launcher that is different. LMFAO! Different?. . . You mean powerful. But not Mountaintop. LMFAO! Hence, the issue of powercreep again. When Bungo doesn't make one, you know what they'll do?. . . They'll cry to high heavens to make them one or something like it. LMFAO!!! There is no powercreep problem in the game. It's built to have powercreep into it. LMFAO!!! And regarding what he said about Vaulting content. Then proceeds to say we're getting back D1 content and strikes. Hahahahahahaha!!! That's what making space means?. . . LMFAO! So we could play older content we've already played before?. . . Pathetic! Let's make space . . . Take down the old raids. Replace them with older raids from D1?. . . 🤔??? Bungie Logic!

YouTube has lot of Destiny Apologists on it that it’s sad. Seeing people defend Bungie’s decisions that are a huge slap in the face to this community. Our Time Investments and our Money Investments is not being respected with Sunsetting and DCV, it is a huge disrespect of the players time and money investments. Why spend money on Content you can’t keep and why grind for things that are going to be Sunset? Makes the Grind and Money investment wasted. Bungie’s Destiny is looking a lot like a Slot Machine, pull that lever, and you may or may not get to keep what you get. And Grind is an unproductive with Sunsetting and a complete waste of time and makes Destiny an endless hamster wheel. You apologists destroy this game. Between Streamers and YouTubers and Bungie apologists shit on this game and destroy it. I’ll move on to Games that let me keep my Content and don’t Sunsetting my Gear and Weapons, like Borderlands and Warframe. Fùck Destiny and their Apologist Assholes.

We are about to get a seasonal sunset and it isn't just our weapons this time. Season 12 will sunset seasons 1-8 this one is going to set us all up for disappointment... Bungie doesn't have the talent or the resources to pull 400 weapons and 200 pieces of armor from usage and replace even a fraction of it without a boat load of reskins. See the new ritual sniper for example... its technically Beloved, you can still see the jewels on it under the cloth.... they quite literally just wrapped it in a scarf and will expect us to grind for it and it won't even be as good as Beloved was, guaranteed. Take Beloved from us, Repackage it, make us regrind for it. Just like Bob the Builder... reduce, reuse, recycle... except for it will be remove, reskin, reuse Then we get season 13, that sunsets all of season 9 14 sunsets all of season 10 15 sunsets all of season 11 16 sunsets all of season 12 17 sunsets all of season 13 Ect Ect. Maybe you dont have 6000 hours into this game and a vault full of masterworked armor and weapons you spent months - years acquiring? It would be alot easier to accept if it was just weapons, but armor? I don't remember the last time a piece of armor helped me out in any activity. Mods? Sure... armor? Absolutely not

You know what would be more ideal than sunsetting or DCV? Dedicated servers you choose upon logging in that designate the content you are playing. A server that's all of D1, a server for all D2 up to Shadowkeep with all seasonal content active, and a new server for the next 3 expansions (D3)...all content playable and accessible to everyone but not overloading a single server...radical I know

작성자: Vanadam 9/29/2020 7:16:12 PMWow this really blew up as i hadnt had chance to check the post for a few days. i really appreciate all the input from everyone whos commented. I think this subject really shows how people feel differently about this sort of move and it shows how hard bungie have it trying to please everyone. i also think its important to highlight what OTHER developers have done in THEIR MMO-esque games and how this can apply to Destiny, which interestingly isn't technically an MMO. please keep the comments coming and if you have any criticism to help me get better at making videos please let me know. if you enjoyed my videos i hope i can convince you to watch more and stick around on my channel :)

26 답변its a good thing, but people are into immediate gratification, and not thinking what's best for the long-term interests of the game. Problems with the status quo" 1. The game doesn't use dedicated servers, and can't without rebuilding the game from the ground up and/or changing engines. 2. This means that your console or PC has to shoulder the burden of running the game, running part of the game's networking, AND loading every in-game object you'll likely encounter into your machine's memory. 3. This has created a situation where the game is struggling to run on the base consoles. Load times are brutally long, and bottlenecking is frequent. PC users are blind to this because they dont' have to deal with it. Console users are often blind to how much better the game runs on PC. I play mainly on PS4 pro...and I finally had to get a SSD to run the game off of, because I just couldn't stand the loaing times any more. 4. If Bungie kept doing what they are currently doing, this game would eventually become unplayable on the current gen hardware, and probably before most people have switched to the new ones. Benefits of Vaulting content. 1. The content that is being vaulted is three years old, and essentially irrelevant to current game play. 2. Removing it from the game reduces install size, and will speed loading times. 3. Bungie is dropping lots of bread crumbs to suggest that they have (at a minimum) have given the game's network architecture and coding a major up grade. There is even a possiblity that there has been a major engine update/overhaul. 4. These changes seem to be focused on making the game's coding more efficient (and therefore file sizes smaller) and for the game to run more efficiently. 5. So another benefit of vaulting content is that it will allow these old sites to be reworked in order to be optimized for the new program structure. As well as a chance to be refreshed and given new relevance. Also---it seems----it allows for sites that were part of Destiny 1 to be given a similar treatment. So----in the long term----we will actually wind up with a LARGER game that works better than what we currently have. Which is why clinging to the status quo and fighting change really is kind of self-defeating if you actually enjoy playing this game.

9 답변I love that it's happening. Mostly because people are mad about it. They are so attached to their peashooters. The real magic happens in November, when every single one of them, saying brave and rebellious things like "Sunset my Gear, sunset my business" play Beyond Light.
