Bungie what happened, you went from king of multiplayer to this

So recently I've taken a break from destiny and I've been playing the MCC, in particular multiplayer and I have to say it's sad that they once had the most creative, fun, and addictive multiplayer. Not too mention they are the studio who really made xbox live a hit. Looking at one of the more recent twabs they are reducing the already shallow pool of multiplayer modes and doing very little as far as making pvp innovative or fun. For the most part Bungie seems more focused on sweaty modes like trials, when they should be flooding crucible with new and exciting modes and maps. Look at any halo game and there are dozen of game variants and for that matter even D1 had way more to offer. Capture the flag, odd ball, king of the hill, fiesta, team rockets, team swords, team snipers, shotty snipers, rocket race. All fun and I truly believe that this is one of the main issues D2 pvp is struggling, since it's only a few modes with little variety. As I mentioned earlier even D1 had more variations with things like rift, sparrow racing, 3v3 skirmish. All I ask is please bring back some of that creativity you once had, back from when you developed halo. Heck maybe even copy some of your old game variants. I'm sure it would be too hard to spawn everyone with random common (white) weapons or add rotating playlist restrictions like must equip only snipers or swords. Instead of sparrow racing maybe pike racing or alternate. Also bring back armored assault or big team battle.

It wasn’t that impressive compared to other shooters on PC. b. The most popular shooters right now are Battle Royales, or fast-paced games like Titanfall, CoD or Apex Legends. Except for people who are nostalgic for Halo, there aren’t many people who want that experience. 3. Bungie isn’t willing or able (it seems) to move away from the Halo formula. Which doesn’t work well for Destiny, and is questionably relevant in 2020

    • I'm sorta a Bungie fangirl but no, they have never been king of muliplayer. not enough #s on the their servers for that, they don't have dedicated servers and they don't Balance PvP and PvE separately like the developers who are the kings of PvP do. Most nerfs that ruin weapons for PvE are because of Crucible and their refusal to Balance them indepent of each other.

        • No offense but Halo was just Multiplayer more or less. After launch, PvE was never expand on. And Patches/Updates were basically nok existent. Bungie never added anything to the game during a games actual lifespan. All the fun modes (rocket race, Griffball etc) were fan creations because of the Forge mode and or settings modifier (VIP). And all the game modes any Halo game launched were basics other games had before tbh (CTF, TDM, KotH etc) and never were special. Of course Halo had more to offer in the PvP department but you really have to realize what the intention was with Halo and how players played videogames globaly. A more versus multiplayer oriented experience was any games goal in the late 90s or early 2000s. When Bungie decided to make Destiny as some sort of live as a service thing, they knew they couldn't just make a PvE mode and let it go for the next years to fully focus on playlist support, like they did with any Halo. No, they knew people would expect more from ANY department. Not to mention based on infos from media inside sources, Destiny was never meant to launch with a PvP mode actually. It was more or less slapped on last minute because the OG Halo players were shocked to find out that the gods of console FPS, Bungie, make a new FPS without a PvP... And therefore it always felt slapped on amd still feels that way cauz it never worked IMO with the PvE classes. It's an unblanced mess. Destiny requires massive work force for almost every department during its active lifespan, something a currently launched Halo game never received (Strikes, new locations for Expansions, new Raids, new activities, more and more loot, events which include PvE basically as well, new music because of expansions, lore, new exotics and the list goes on and on). There is simply not enough time. Many stuff Halo had needed to be reinvented for Destin, cauz you simply can't copy a Halo mode into a brand new frame work...

          • Mixing PVE and PVP with peer to peer is pure disaster. If both modes where separate and have servers pvp could have been great, and pve would be much better as well.

            • I remember when Destiny first was released and PvP was added as a place for us to kick back and test new builds, meet ppl for raids and what not. Never was meant to be a focus or core game play. Destiny will always be a PvE first game. It's excellent at that.

              • Being someone who has been doing the challenges in halo MCC... Bungie went from a titan of the franchises with halo CE to Reach to... Well now. I donr hate destiny, far from it. I enjoy the game a lot. Its just bungie went downhill faster than a Jamaican bobsled team

              • The difference, in my mind, is that Halo was only about the PvP side of things really. The campaign and the story were phenomenal but that was the extent of PvE. The rest of their time, energy, and skill went into PvP. Destiny is, in my estimation, something like 70/30 PvE over PvP. Could argue even more to the PvE side honestly. It’s never going to really feel like Halo did. Don’t get me wrong, I do think they need to focus more on improving the PvP side of things, but this game just wasn’t built to capture the same level of PvP quality that Halo did.

                • I don't know about "king of multiplayer"... Maybe on console where the concept was still new, but on PC we had id Software doing it since '93. Then Valve, then Infinity Ward, (who also stole all of Bungie's Xbox thunder and lightning), then Dice...

                • I agree I wish they had a 4v4 ranked clash mode, where everyone spawns in with the same 2 weapons Just like halo slayer mode. They could easily have balance in terms of guns, and maybe that would reduce a lot of pvp complaints. I really wish they took pvp seriously. Pvp matters if you want to maintain a following thru dry times

                  Tbh a game like Destiny will just inherently never have a great PvP. There’s too many wack ass variables. It’s always gonna be a pretty casual and tenuously balanced experience. Fixed loadouts or some other massive, fundamental overhaul for PvP would be required. King of the Hill would be dope though. I miss that game mode.

                    They should have stuck to Halo and somehow parted ways with M$, 343i have ruined Halo for me. I didn't enjoy 4 they couldn't even make most of the games in the MCC and look at how bad they screwed that up taking forever to fix it, and H5 was nothing but hot garbage imo it was the first Halo campaign where I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Oh and they brought in microtransactions for the mp which CAN affect the gameplay. But yeah I don't enjoy D2 gameplay all the maps are close quarters crap with shotgun spam or auto meta atm, I miss the moon map on D1 that had some vehicles.
