Hear me out:
Destiny 2 has no dedicated servers, an outdated engine, is poorly optimized, there are thousands of unused assets in the game taking up way more space than they need to, and there's so much padding within the game it's ridiculous.
Beyond Light might be a turning point for the game overall, but without sweeping changes to some of the underlying problems like enemy balancing, pvp adjustments, separation of PvP and PvE sandboxes and maybe bridging the gap with some kinda Gambit update, or even the issue of sunsetting items.
I get that it might be a monumental task, but if we're being honest, the only reason they didn't put any resources into a D3 is because they couldn't monetize it, what with Destiny 2 being f2p.
An engine change is something this game drastically needs. For god's sake the game plays entirely different on PC than it does on Console PURELY because of FPS rates(Call of Duty, meanwhile, does not have this problem).
Enemies and their races need dramatic overhauls(the Cabal are basically a non-issue until Calus' Daughter enters the mix again), and the Scorn don't have a reason to exist anymore.
It would've just allowed them to DO more is what I'm saying. They could better streamline the process for New Light players, or even fix progression issues with XP and the like.
Edit 1:
"New Game = New Engine? No, stupid." - Listen, I get your points, but it was a suggestion. This was posted in the "feedback" section for a reason.
Edit 2:
"Vault Bombing? Really?" - Not necessarily. Exotics have lost the meaning of their strength in Destiny 2. In D1 they were almost always game-breaking in terms of what they were capable of, and completely changed gameplay. In D2 they're nothing more than a convenience(or necessity in the case of Eriana's Vow) that you can slot into your gear under the pretense that you don't NEED anymore seasonal modded items. Bungie's biggest problem was making Pinnacle weapons Legendary and not Exotic.

But nope, we'll still be playing 7 year old d2 on platforms that came out almost a decade ago in 2023 and yet they think this will draw enough players to keep the studio going.

5 답변The end of destiny and bungie is the only good call. This game is broken both pve and pvp, disgusting Garbage free light and free to play. Tye minite tye gave it for free it DIED!!! Now every bloody remote modded trash cheater from all other free to play games is on destiny destroying pvp, both in trials and comp! Pve just is plain garbage, 9 straight months of nothing but garbage obelisk grinds for the same gear we can get in every other mode!!!! On top of everything is copy and paste. Destiny 2 is dying, 3/4 of the good community have already left, and it’s left with pvp lag switchers, modded remote trash now on PS4 and consoles, and bungie does absolutely nothing to stop any of it. They BRAG ABOUT the fact they’ve banned some people, but guess what, week to week this game gets worst and worst!!! Every other game that nailed to the cross cheaters, got better. Destiny gets WORST

11 답변작성자: Dredgen Araphel 6/29/2020 12:42:08 AMNo it wouldn't destiny 2 is proof of that. Destiny 1 became a respectable game towards the end and destiny 2 was poor when compared to it. Destiny 2 could have been dlc and we could have had our stuff and progress.

10 답변작성자: AubsTheBelieber 6/29/2020 3:06:33 AMWhy do people keep saying Destiny 3 = new engine? Game developing engines don't usually change with a game sequel. Look at Unreal Engine. Hundreds of games made by countless companies. But Gears 4 and Gears 5 probably both were during Unreal Engine 4th edition. That and Bungie is actually using a VERY VERY old obsolete engine that is so horrific it is literally the cause of us not getting content in reasonable amount year round. If you go to Glass Door and read real ExBungie employees reviews about their jobs with Bungie, you will find out Bungie has such garbage tools, to move one object two feet can take -blam!-ing TEN HOURS just to load the map one time. Employees have to leave their tools loading as they leave work hoping a map/instance can load just to come back to work the next day and move an object two feet which will take 10 seconds. And if the tools don't load or freeze, tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, they will finally move one object 2 feet. That is why we never get content anything like any other Premium AAA game. Bungie is so stubborn and greedy they struggle with tools and programs that they used over ten years ago to make the old Halo games, cause they are Bungie. -blam!- all their customers. Their customers can simply wait longer and longer with less and less content coming to them and pay amounts that are ridiculously high for most DLCs actual true new content. Also. If you read GlassDoor reviews from ex employees you'll unsurprisingly find out Bungie actually is the most toxic place to work and those stubborn people at the top that are making the game suffer with their ego and stubbornness, tend to say to newer employees "well, I made Halo so I think I would know what ideas are best". Sunsetting is just so they can be lazy and also create artificial "content" by making you chase your own -blam!-ing items that expired so they can create the illusion they are not spewing out money left and right in loses each year, and refusing to accept they need to become willing to do what the community cries out for. But for now, they ignore each and every player the last few months. Go with plans the communities majorities hate. Give us no new raids, activities, game modes since -blam!-ing September of last year, and they are trying to sell you on a new DLC with the fact it has Hawkmoon and No Time To Explain and Cosmodrome? Yeah they have advertised more Destiny 1 content with the next DLC than new content. Quit this game while you're still ahead. It will randomly die cause no one even plays this game anymore, not enough to make any profits for over 2 years now. It us only gonna get worse and worse from this point. That's why I quit after 5 years, just recently.

2 답변Saying poorly optimised is a joke man, apart from the occasional long load time this game is seemless.

3 답변No matter what decision is made, someone will be upset. If they make more D2, people will want D3. If they halt production of D2 to work on D3, people will complain of content droughts for the several YEARS required to push out a third title. Literally nothing they do will please everyone. So yeah, either sit down shut up or get to cracking on D3 yourself. After all, game development is easy and bungie is just lazy, right?
-
To be fair to Bungie though, expecting them to have a brand new engine with sweeping internal changes with only 3 years of development time for a brand new game with millions of new textures and shit is an asinine thing to expect, which you are expecting. Don't try to back pedal.

I support sunsetting but you are right. Hearing that they have no plan for D3 is kind of saddening. This year it might not have been the call, but I was hoping for next year. By then they can comfortably end support for old gen consoles and make it PS5/xbox X/PC only which gives them infinitely more head room in improving the foundation of the game such as the engine and the code, maybe even dedicated servers. If Destiny 2 is forever then that means we will always be stuck with a game built on a foundation made around the 2014 consoles which sucks. Hardware constraints aside the game just needs a complete overhaul. It feels like Destiny 2 has tried a lot of things, having a lot of success but also a lot of failure. If Bungie were to make another game having taken every cumulative success and failure from the past 6 years and put all their efforts into D3, I feel like it would be very good.

7 답변Can we really trust bungo with restarting their IP again? It'll end up like destiny 2 year 1. They intentionally hold back on the storytelling/content just to sell it to us as dlc, under the guise of being a "game-changing" update
-
If next gen consoles were released last year, you may have a point, but trying to release Destiny 3 on the current set of consoles would result in the game game engine, meaning many of the same issues that people do not like about the game. It looks like their approach is continue to build D2, then as new consoles are released, work on optimizing performance on the newer consoles. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the later expansions required the next gen console, similar to what they did with the release of Rise of Iron.
-
The only place I can see a D3 happening is after Lightfall. If there is some cataclysmic event that occurs when the conflict between the light and dark concludes, I see it as a perfect way to make a D3. New engine, and the works. Unfortunately it would likely mean another vault wipe, unless there is some way to do what they did with the character appearance transfer from D1 to D2, but do that with gear. But the game is running on a heavily modified blam engine all the way back from Halo Reach. Sooner or later they need to change the engine. Also really wish they would do what they did with Rise of Iron being Next Gen only. It's a shame we're gonna be holding back the PS5, Series X, and PC because of the current Gen...

I think they see D2 is tanking. Will not invest in new D3 content or engine to accommodate PC and next gen consoles, dedicate servers, etc. Gonna milk D2 for all it's worth instead and arefollowing their mission statement: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kGOTIt2wJXs/maxresdefault.jpg

1 답변This is new Bungo...greedy, lazy, no passion, no skill, no innovation, full of lies and half truths, most of the talent has left. And it shows. D2 has been garbage since beta.

2 답변Bungie also hasn’t developer enough content for a Destiny 3 - take a look at that map we are getting in September- how much of that is actually going to be new original content - that’s right - 1 planet - why release a destiny 3 when you can just recycle what you’ve already sold...? Honestly? This game is pretty much done - the amount of new content is going to be far outweighed by the recycled content we will get from the content vault... Chances are if you played destiny 1 and 2 from the start you have already experienced the majority of the content...
