Late afternoon is what I originally had in mind.
Errol is interrupted by the sound of the ship’s engines and lifts his gaze to watch it fly by. He furrows his brow, while Skye takes a labored sigh of relief at the familiar ship.
-
Skye isn’t given a chance to reply, as the Atoms tighten their hold around her. She hisses in pain, though Errol gives no acknowledgment of it. He tilts his head slightly. “I wouldn’t worry about what she wants. She’ll be dead, soon. And you will join her, unless you take my offer to leave.”
-
The bullet misses, and Errol fires another. However, the shot is disrupted as Blaze’s aim is true. His pistol is flung out of his grasp, and the electricity travelled down his hand. As he grunts at the shock, his Atoms briefly fall away from Skye, allowing her just enough time to crawl away from them.
-
Blaze pulls his rapier out of his cane, throws another lightning bolt at Errol, and pushes in with his rapier. “Doubt Skye wants me to kill you, so I’ll just beat you up.” He grins, showing his fangs. “I might even get a snack from some fallen blood!”
-
The mechanical arm appears again and displays the shield, allowing Errol just enough time to recover and take a look at Blaze’s fangs. His brows furrow with intrigue. “Fascinating,” he says, then gives a chuckle. “That would be explain the wee marks I saw on Skye’s neck.” As the shield flickers away, he summons his Atoms to grab at Blaze’s legs in attempt to knock him over. “But something tells me she didn’t take those fangs willingly. Are you sure she even wants your help?”
-
The Atoms crawl around Blaze. If he doesn’t get up soon he could be trapped. Errol steps towards him. “And you are yourself now? Are you certain it won’t happen again?” Skye’s voice could be heard nearby. “Don’t listen to him, Blaze! Don’t listen to him!”
-
“Being careful only goes so far, I’m afraid.” Errol brings his hands closer together, causing the Atoms to close in on Blaze. As he did this, Skye had managed to stand and make her way towards the two. She grabbed at his cloak and pulled with whatever strength she had. This sent him stumbling to the side, and distracted him enough so his Atoms dropped.
-
Apologies for the late reply! Real life really does like to throw unexpected things at you.
Errol pushes Skye off of him just in time to attempt dodging Blaze’s blade and land a blow with his fist.
-
Errol growls in frustration as his fist catches air and he is drops to the ground. Skye moves out of the way, and manages a chuckle before she grimaces. “You don’t owe me anything,” she manages to say. Errol does not leave room for more discussion, and tries to kick at Blaze’s legs to make him lose his balance.
-
Skye watches the fight, and a shadow of uncertainty comes over her face. “I... I... look out!” She points past the two towards the swarm of Atoms coming in towards Blaze’s direction. Errol lifts up his arms to block against the punches. At Skye’s warning, he points a hand at her, and the swarm splits. The other half hits the archer, and she is cast another few yards away.
