Ill agree that power creep or whatever we call it has made new gear irrelivent (why grind for the new machine gun if deliriums so damn good, right)
But next year we're going to be in exact same place right?
A gun to end all guns is gonna be put in the game, that'll make all others irrelivent, and suddenly throwing my favorite shotgun away was kinda pointless, you know what I'm saying

7 답변I think it's bungies' approach to destiny that is all wrong. It was originally sold to me as a fantastic journey, ten years long where my avatar, toon, character, would grow, and grow, and grow... In the end, we'd look back upon our deeds and be legend. What I got was a plastic decoder ring that told me to drink more Ovaltine, (or drink more red bull), if that's more fitting for you.

2 답변Some will will say a lot of companies do this or they did it in the first game. This is true, but... correct me if I'm wrong. Do all other companies wait for 2 & 1/2 years to do this, knowing all that time the players invested in their game?

1 답변Hence why everything has a 1 year from release date. Enjoy your guns expiring. No reason to farm for them. No reason to get loot in a looter shooter.
-
1 답변So... Did you stop thinking about it? Because you just explained why. A new great gun power creeps current gear..... Then it gets sunset, allowing new gear to be at the top. . Rinse and repeat.

1 답변Why would I use another Legendary machine gun when Hammerhead exists? Performance wise and on paper there is no need to farm for another machine gun. But then Seventh Seraph SAW exists and I can create Warmind Cells. Is that enough to convince players to put down the most dominant machine gun in D2 history? They don't want players sticking with the same load out for two years because it's making the game stagnant. They come up with interesting perks and actual builds (Charged with Light and Warmind Cells) yet no one will experiment because they choose to use the same guns.

1 답변
“Funny story for you. Remember that Centurion Oryx ‘took’ right after you landed on the Dreadaught? Then the Centurion and that Taken Ogre tried to stop you from killing the King? Heh. Didn’t work. So the Centurion’s bond-brothers are pretty angry they lost their commander. They’re leading a team to blow the Dreadnaught’s core. The core goes, and most of the system goes with it. You’re gonna make sure that doesn’t happen” - Cayde-6
3 답변Main problem with sunsetting is they won’t keep up the pace of new weapons I think the DLC will have several new weapons but with crappy perks But after that it will dry up I think it’s being done for the DLC and their lack of testing things as well

2 답변They can make guns to end all guns which stay for a year and get replaced by other guns of equal power without a need to introduce power creep or nerf the item. That’s the point.

49 답변Right now there is no power creep. They are sunsetting weapons to keep it that way. Sunsetting allows us to have best in class items at the pinnacle level year to year. That is what's being changed. Bungie wants tiers again with weapons. Remember how recluse was grinded for and great all the time? Sunsetting the next one won't require them to nerf the weapon as the weapon would cycle out.

Power creep is when they make newer gear thats much better then old gear. We have the opposite of that older gear is better then new gear Go look up the definition and see the best guns in destiny 2 and when they came out

We won’t be in the same place next year. That’s the point. The whole idea is they will limit the time a gun can spend in the endgame. A gun can only be infused up for a few seasons before it reaches a max level. This is because weapons (e.g. The Recluse) are so crazy good that it’s hard to get people to want to use much else. The devs work hard to create new and fun weapons and they get ignored because a weapon they made last year is too good. Rather than nerf the performance of the gun, they will make it so it can’t be infused endlessly and make all future weapons competing for that spot relevant. The point is that next year we will all have to be using new weapons in endgame content where power matters. Other than power level, past weapons are gonna stay just as good, but new weapons will get a chance to shine so we’re not spending the next several years using the same gear. This will keep things fresh. We’ll be a little upset we don’t get to stick with our old favorites, but it’ll be what’s for the best for the game ultimately. I remember being sad that Whisper of the Worm was nerfed because I didn’t wanna use it as much after, but it’s good that it’s not the only option for DPS anymore. This will be better because it doesn’t nerf the weapon’s performance, just limits the power level at some point.

1 답변I'm the opposite actually. Also, it should be an easy thing to reverse if it's a disaster.

18 답변작성자: Bore 6/5/2020 5:11:07 PMWe will eventually get to the same point, but that new gun/guns will only lasts a year. The game is planning on lasting til year 7. Recluse shouldn’t be the meta for 6 out of 7 years of D2.

That just means that one end all be all gun won't be a problem for the entirety of the game, and onlyu for a year. Think if G-horn was never sunsetted in D1, we would have still been using it until Bungie nerfed it.

1 답변I'm not totally convinced it's about power creep. I think it's more about grind. As power levels increase and the weapons in your vault become less viable you have to replace them with higher light level gear. We did that for years in D1. Quite often it wasn't even new gear, the same stuff with higher light levels.
