Really, now what's the point of doing anything next season? Everything we get will be invalidated anyway. I might as well just quit until the next expansion so I can grind for more junk I eventually won't be able to use.
Edit: So read back through it, and everything from Opulence and before will be gone. My Erentil, my Scathelocke, my Spare Rations, my favorite Hammerhead, my Imperial Decree... all gone. And realistically, how many weapons from season 9 onward can replace those?
And I just realized something. Activities like Forges will become worthless. Why play them when you won't be able to use the gear anyway?
Time for another paragraph. Pinnacles are going to hurt bad. I spent a whole season grinding solo for Recluse back when the comp playlist was actually hard. I spent half a year working on getting Mountaintop. I spent a whole year getting Luna's Howl. And those are just the Crucible pinnacles, I haven't even mentioned things like Loaded Question or Breakneck. You're just going to tell me all of that time spent doesn't matter at all?

I just signed in after not playing for a year due to some personal stuff going on and I am honestly not sure this game is worth it now. Im super upset ALL my gear is gone. I had so many exotics and legendary. I've been playing since season 1 and spent months getting items and I literally have crap weapons now. Crap armor. Everything. I don't understand why they couldn't let players keep the items and just patch all them to be a certain level if you had them already, and they were maxed out . Disappointed and was going to by the new 2 expansions I have missed but I don't think so now.

작성자: NVMYGT 5/19/2020 1:46:33 AMOnce season 12 hits , all of season 1-8 gear gets sunsetted, then 3 months later, season 9 gets sunsetted, then 3 months later season 10 gets sunsetted. This won't stop.. 4 sunsets every year until everything you ever grinded for is obsolete in end game activities.
-
Yeah I really don't see the point of grinding for gear if they are just going to obsolete everything. There really isn't any point. Just wait for the new stuff, replace all you grinded gear with blues, play the story. Done, game done. In like 2 weeks. Probably get more play out of borderlands.

Overall, I do not see year 4 going well for Destiny 2 and Bungie at all. They are getting MAJOR backlash about this. Currently, instead of gear retiring, it still remains useful for everything. Bungie just gives players incentive to acquire new gear because they introduce new/better gear with new perks and/or new combinations of perks. This system works just fine. With sunsetting, the retired gear will only be useful in non-endgame activities (low-level strikes, basic destination activities like patrols, some Crucible playlists, etc.). I love this game and I have been here since year 1 of Destiny 1, but this might just kill it for me. To describe where the game is going currently, let me paint a picture: Destiny is Cayde-6, on the ground, and Bungie is Uldren about to pull the trigger. By introducing sunsetting, Bungie has basically said to players, “the last 3 years of your time, dedication, hard work, and patience means nothing to us, so it must mean nothing to you as well”. Bungie only has a few months to decide how much money they are going to have in their pockets.

2 답변The best part about these posts is that you guys either want call of duty in space or world of Warcraft in space, and what you want seems to change depending on what you had for breakfast.

7 답변I’m annoyed that our gear will become useless in 6-9 months time, I mean we players spent a lot of time and money earning that stuff for it to become unusable, sure it’ll still be there but it won’t be of any use in news activities, why don’t bungle leave them alone and just bring the new stuff in and let us the players choose what we want to use? If I want to use scathelocke let me use it, if I want to use something new I’ll grind for it, simple....

9 답변I won't play anymore if they introduce this feature. It can take months or years to grind out godrolls and highstat armor pieces, not to mention that Destiny is a social game and we can be pretty sentimental about our gear. So my Masterwork Dreambane armor pieces that I spent weeks grinding the Hive Dungeon for to get the rolls I wanted will be phased out? My favorite shotgun will be rendered useless, bye bye ornament that I paid for, bye bye kill counter. The first raid weapon drop I ever got when my friends carried me through the Last Wish will be obsolete and I won't be able to use it in any meaningful way anymore? It doesn't even have a godroll, I just like it because it has sentimental value to me. They might as well just nuke our vaults periodically because that's functionally the same as making gear so low light level that it can't be used in current seasonal content. Might as well trash all the gear I played hundreds of hours to get because at least then I'll have vault space instead of useless stuff that I can't use. What's the point of grinding for anything if it has a time limit on it? Do you want this game to be a looter shooter or not?

4 답변So I guess money spent on weapon ornaments from Eververse is a big waste. Why buy weapon ornaments when those weapons will eventually be obsolete? Sorry to those that spent the money, Bungie just slapped you in face and said "thanks for the dollars chump". It's a great way to cannibalize your own business, but then that's not the issue here and I'm sure they have more creative ways to squeeze money out of their player base.

6 답변작성자: WulfPak666 5/15/2020 12:58:06 PMBungie: Hey, we know you spent a lot of time grinding reckoning for that Rapid hit, multi Killclip Spare Rations and Quickdraw snapshot Mindbender. Me: So what am I supposed to grind for now?? Bungie: well, we're giving you Felwinter's Lie which has quickdraw and shotpackage... Oh and in season 12 you can grind for a new Handcannon called "Wastin' Time". It can roll with Rapid hit and a new perk "Savagery". Me: ooh what's Savagery do? Bungie: it's literally just Killclip but it sounds cooler 😎👍 Me: so I'm still gonna be farming for the same perks I've been farming for? Bungie: totally dude Me: 😑

5 답변작성자: nusho 5/16/2020 4:47:36 PMNah, I'm not losing my gear. I'm losing Bungie's gear. Bungie has made it clear to me that none of this shit is mine. It's theirs and they can take it from me, or invalidate it in any way they please. But that's true with any game, so what's the difference? Well, I'm glad you asked! Most games are really great at making sure the illusion of ownership isn't broken unless you do something wrong and are punished for it, like hacking or cheating. You worked for it! You busted your ass and spent insane amounts of your time grinding for that perfect loot, so it's (illusion) yours! Bungie? Nah! They don't have the wherewithal to understand something so delicate as to the relationship between a player and their loot, especially in a game like this. So they do a drastic thing, a thing that feels like a punishment, and they break the illusion of ownership like it means nothing. Shattered. Shredded. Ruined. Now? Grinding for that loot feels pointless. Empowering that loot with the materials to masterwork it feels pointless. Why do it? It's no longer my loot. It's all theirs to do with as they please. So, let them. I'm done giving a shit about their loot. I also have alternative solutions to sunsetting our armor: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/256058446

Here’s my thing. I’m not happy about the “sunsetting.” However, I’m going to give Bungie a chance. But! You’ve just made the game unplayable (for gear) for 6months. I’m not sure of the sales strategy. The goal is to sell season passes and expansions. So, if your model is to transition? You just told players that black armory, reckoning, PvP, gambit and strikes for pinnacle are obsolete. For 6 months! Not sure what the business model is. Guess we’l find out at the end of this season. Until then, I’m throttling back on my Destiny time.

I remember once when Bungie said they wanted us to be able to use our favorite gear forever. Then exotics became not so exotic. To fix that they came up with the mind boggling idea to sunset purples. This was exotics can feel like they are exotic again. Why grind out of the early pinnacle weapons if they are gonna be shit soon? Why bother to grind ANY UP COMING pinnacle/ritual weapon if they will phase it out?
