Hold up. Warlock main here too, mostly pvp. Couple things here I think aren't true.
Burst glide isn't useless. At all. Not on console at least. Does very well with top tree dawnblade.
I don't think I've seen you mention blink at all. Next to top tree Dawn blade, blink is one of the best movement styles in the game. It's hard to use, but it's extremely effective for being offensive, in very potent for being defensive as well. You combine this with astrocyte verse, and You can move even faster and more often than top tree down blade.
in a way I like to think about it top tree dawn blade strength in movement is decent offensively, amazing in defense. Blink with astrocyte verse is amazing offensively, and decent defensively.
Nova warp is nowhere near useless, and to this day I failed to understand why is it that everybody cannot seem to use this class because I destroy with it. If you combine Nova Warp with astrocyte verse your movement during your super is terrifying. People have a very hard time keeping up with you. Combined with high strength getting in close and booping people in the face is highly effective in fighting other shotgunners, and is deceptively strong. Handheld supernova is still very good, it's just better as a defensive technique for when somebody is pushing you and you can't get away.
Chaos reach actually is also pretty decent in PvP with the ionic traces replenishing your abilities. You can do some pretty neat things with that and get away artists, but you're right you need to be good with warlock first before you get there. I prefer bottom tree storm with getaway artist.
I am very very happy you did not pigeonhole and say transversive steps in ophidian aspects are all that needs to be used.
Your other stuff yeah pretty spot on

Burst Vs strafe:
It all really comes down to playstyle really. If you're an aggressive player burst may suit you better for one on one engagements. If you're a map control type of player strafe suites better as it will get you to where you want to go quicker overall. Strafe keeps the inertia that you build up whilst burst does not.
Re: blink.
I didn't mention it as OP is new to being a warlock. Blink is more an advanced mechanic that op could learn down the line. Way I figure it, I'd learn to basic warlock before learning to advanced warlock.
Re: astrocyte verse.
It's not working correctly. Weapon ready speed after second blink gets stuck. It's still not been fixed.
Re: nova warp.
I'm glad that there is a warlock still using it. But from a general consensus, it's regarded as a trash subclass after being hit with all the Nerfs. I didn't recommend it to OP because I want him to enjoy being a warlock in PvP and as novawarp as it currently stands, it's simply not worth using over storm caller. Again, my previous advice was tailored for a person being new to a Warlock. As detailed basic advice I could give.
The same goes for chaos reach.
Being a warlock in PvP can be disheartening at times. Even more so for someone new to the class. Throwing them in the deep end and expecting them to understand the intricacies of the class and the expectation of them just being good at it is just plain wrong.
Personally I'm running blink devour build I. PvP with transversives or ophidian. I switch out.
I was using contraverse on this build before they nerfed it. It enabled me to utilise my alt grenade quicker to get devour going. Now it just doesn't work.
My opinion is mostly based from a PvP background. Warlocks are amazing and have a variety of different builds in PvE.
Op can look those up on YouTube or ask around. The advice I previously gave may not be common knowledge or found easily.
Eg: tapping aim down sights to disengage jump.
I'm more then happy to meet you on common ground and discuss many of the different tactics we can employ and I would enjoy said discussion as I feel I would learn from you and perhaps you from I, however that's not what OP was asking.

Oh I see! Well I do appreciate your thoroughness and kind response!
Burst vs Strafe
Totally can see that. Similar with top tree dawn vs warp.
Blink
Ah I see. Makes sense from a beginners standpoint.
Astrocyte verse
Yes. That particular issue does need fixing still. That improved blink though is quite clutch still.
Nova warp and chaos reach
I can quite understand this one as well, as it is a little more advanced and both require deep understanding of warlock.
You raise a very valid point. It can quite be disheartening because it does take some real getting used to for lock to be effective. I'd 100% urge op to try out these other classes, but I can see your perspective.
Personally I'm trying out bottom tree storm with getaway and either last word sniper or sidearm sniper. It's...quite fun.
