Here are the population numbers from Destiny Trials Report:
Week 1 - 380k players.
Week 2 - 340k players (-10% from launch).
Week 3 - 300k players (-20% from launch).
Week 4 - 278k players (-27% from launch).
Week 5 - 235k players (-38% from launch).
Out for a month and has lost almost 40% of its player population. The problems have been heavily discussed on the forums, but it’s clear that it’s not the success it needed to be. Bungie should have all the feedback they need about the problems, and hopefully this weeks TWAB will have a couple proposed changes maybe with timeline.
I think the changes need to happen sooner or later because D2 has shown us some fans will write off the game and not return because of a bad launch so the longer it takes the more players will not return after changes.
EDIT: 4/16 TWAB announced no changes. It did set the expectation that although they are working on improvements they can be as far away as next season or beyond. It’s good they addressed it in a way, but the longer they wait to do something the more players stop playing the mode for good.

I can’t help but notice you haven’t updated your post. It is Monday night and we have currently 239,113 players. Wasn’t it dropping 40k each week? Wasn’t trials dead? Isn’t destiny dead? I said we’d revisit this next week and guess what? Looks like you were wrong. You stated that people getting the flawless seal would sharply decrease the numbers as well. Don’t think for a second I forgot that either.

1 답변작성자: Cosmic Owl 4/18/2020 10:21:19 AMI have a bad Trials KD, like .5 or something. I’ve been playing with every random team bad or good from the app, usually no mic. But anyway today we put together an okay team, but for the love of god we couldn’t get three wins. The first two matches were always fine, either a very easy team or one with our skill level which we usually beat. Then the third game was all 2.0+ KD players with multiple flawless runs. I could see game 5-7 being that way, but the third game? It was like hitting a wall every single time. Trials MM is seriously -blam!-ed up.

1 답변Good. A shit gamemode that's had a shit legacy since it launched back in House of Wolves. Nothing but rampant cheating and assholes gatekeeping less skilled players who just want to get good loot.
-
4 답변And the fun part is that the number of cheaters amid that minimal player population is rising as more and more cheats are being installed. The percentage of cheaters is growing exponentially, and the only kind of cracking down Bungie is doing is setting the Ninjas loose on the forums to censor people that expose blatant cheating. Makes so much sense, I love the stupidity.

1 답변I haven't played a single round of Trails and I don't intend to. I'm on a console, but I'm not eager to get ddos'd.

1 답변My kids who didn’t get to play the 1st 2 versions talked me into playing the 1st couple is of weeks. After the no rewards glitch the week before last, I told them to forget it. I got the Shotgun and Auto and it’s not worth playing the card reseting cheaters on PC especially for no loot. Anyone who plays it is just delaying potential improvements from being implemented.

2 답변They bought it back too late and fuked the rewards it’s pretty much d1 trials so why take so long to bring it back

4 답변Meanwhile , I get DDOSed regularly in comp, got hate mail and told to kill myself because I used Hardlight, Iron Banner matchmaking is fvcking broken and gives stacked teams an advantage, and They nerf PvE guns because we are melting bosses, and yet, things like bastion still shoot through walls and players are immune while initiating a slide. This is just plain ridiculous. Why do they listen to streamers and pro-players and the average, everyday players are ignored and forced to play in a sandbox clearly not made for fun and balanced play?

2 답변작성자: cycofreak3 4/16/2020 10:26:46 AMRemember, they didn't want it coming out half baked. So they left the ingredients in the cupboard and copy pasted everything down to the weapons and armor, giving us a picture of trials but no cake.

1 답변People are traveling and spending time with family. Oh wait, it’s not the holiday season.

1 답변I never was and never will be interested it Trials, but what I don't like about this season is, the resources that could have gone into better PvE content (or even PvP to be fair, but a more accessible PvP), was spent on this bullshit. Bungie always said they removed Trials because it wasn't what they wanted for it. You can't tell me THIS is what they wanted instead... I mean, jesus christ, spend a fking dollar and and hour on it next time.

7 답변Whats going to be really entertaining is when the numbers drop below 100K. That's when the so called best of the best will be forced to play each other so called best of the best. At that point no one will win anything. What will the sherpers do then can no longer sell flawless passages, What will the streamers do when can no longer stream their glorious victories. Its going to be so much fun watching these low life losers cry to Bungie about how unfair life is.

2 답변And if the games I've played are an indication, 80% of those players somehow made it to the lighthouse. Card based matchmaking isnt working
-
1 답변Not surprised at all. The hardest part with a mode like Trials is keeping players engaged. It'll be interesting to see if numbers plateau or drop to the point where its genuinely unsustainable.

5 답변There is no reason to play. In d1 i got the doctrine.Loved it. Never got the adept one but didnt stop me trying. This loot pool is for casuals and only casuals. How many sweats are going to stick around after the flawless title. The decisions being made at the top level are a disgrace.
-
9 답변It will be dead if they wait until next season to make changes. I won’t be surprised if the numbers dip below 200k this week given that the title unlocked last weekend.

Just an observation. I notice a trend in the community on the types of people that complain about trials. We lost adept weapons in the first place because of the “average player” complaining about the “rich getting richer.” Hopefully bungie brings that back. Bounties like D1 trials would be great for those that can’t get the 3 wins. It’d probably make you happy. Separate Matchmaking for those that went flawless and those that have never been would be good to give hope to people that haven’t been. I’m in the boat that everything shouldn’t be achievable by everybody. That matchmaking would be good for the overall health of the game though so I can get on board. Let’s see what the numbers say this week.

8 답변Such a monumental screw-up. In my last job, if I oversaw a drop in customer count like that, I would have been fired. I do wonder how Bungie handles accountability. There are millions of people stuck at home. This should be prime time for video games. And maybe the current player counts overall reflect that. But Bungie spent years on making sure this didn't come out "half-baked", and players are choosing to spend their time elsewhere.
