I think we need a conversation on Warlocks as a whole. I had a lengthy back and forth with an ignorant Hunter main that tried to prove Warlocks are the best class in the game for PvP. It is almost fact that’s not true. Unless it’s not but I’ve really tried to find where Warlocks are better and I main a Warlock lol.
I think we need some more PvP based exotics that do some different things like Jester. We have some good ones but the classes themselves don’t seem to have much love. I used to main bottom tree dawnblade and forced myself to use the tragedy known as Nova Warp just for the nade. Now I’m back to the nerfed top tree storm after using Landfall for a while after patch.
All if not most Titan subclasses actually great in PvP and the same goes for Hunters. I saw a Hunter run Quiver, 100 strength, and Graviton Forfeit so he almost never had to be visible. I want more creative, viable builds for Warlocks. I recently got Lumina catalyst so I can try a healer build with Starfire. I don’t know exactly what needs to happen but Warlocks need to have an advantageous subclass. The only two solid ones in my eyes are Top tree Arc and Solar. Besides that, it’s practically all below average subclasses from there.
Maybe another Warlock main will disagree with me but I’d rather that than a Hunter main who only has a Hunter created. We can all hopefully agree that we do need some love again

To be honest I can agree with most of what you said. However I also believe that top tree dawn blade is in fact the best subclass for PvP, but it has a great drawback because of the MAJOR amount of skill required to use it “properly”. I also think that both warlocks and hunters need a little bit of love in the PvP side of the game. IMO hunter supers are pretty mediocre with spectral blades being the best option. For example: Tether is awful and needs a buff for PvP, more often than not a tether will end in a trade because of the ridiculously long animation, there is also the fact that it is a super that does the same exact thing as a titan suppressor grenade plus the extra damage with weapons. Arcstrider is just meh, it has its positive but it also still has some bad hit registration and no movement boost other than the dodge and the block on middle tree, but those movements are no where near comparison to a titans fist of havoc super where they become fast af and are pretty tough to get away from when close. Now on to other things, you mentioned movement but I also disagree. A hunter can only beat a class in straight line speed, but they are at a disadvantage when it comes to obstacles. Titans are fast because of the way their jump works and warlocks are also really and slippery thanks to burst glide/ blink and on top tree dawn icarus Dash x2. I feel as though Titans are the best class in general because of them having three amazing super shutdown options ( middle tree striker, striker in general, and suppressor grenades) . Warlocks only have one, nova bomb ( I guess you can also consider chaos reach a super shutdown but most of the time you are target practice for a sniper). The we have hunters with two, tether( which is a trade most of the time) and blade barrage( which also has poor hit res). All in all I feel like compared to Titans, warlocks and hunters lack power. Hunters also don’t really have any uniqueness to them. They had dodge but warlocks now have two dodges with a 5s cool down. Tether is cool and all but I mean suppressors are just better to use because there is no trade involved. Then, blade barrage is just a copy and paste nova bomb but worse. The only thing they have unique is the smoke bomb melee and golden gun. Spectral blades is just arcstrider but better in most senses, however they both are shut down nearly always to a fist of havoc titan. Other than that I agree that warlocks need love, but i think hunters need some too.

That is definitely a fair point, top tree has a fantastic set but it does take a lot of skill (it’s even bugged on console) to work with. I find Hunter and Titans have a lot more ease of use when it comes to PvP. When most people put on bottom tree striker it’s like “wow I have a super people are actually afraid of?” I did take the advice of someone and have been balling with Telesto, double light reactor, and nova bomb. Didn’t expect it to be that solid of a build. I have several builds for classes, including a double melee/Monte top tree build at 100 strength. But if I switch to most other supers on the other classes I find it easier to gain success if that makes sense. I still do well as a Warlock but it takes a lot more “trying” to achieve that level of success. I will be rolling with big axion in Trials tonight even though top tree dawn is probably a far superior option lol

I'm a hunter main (so by all means ignore everything else I'm about to say) but I do play my warlock in PvP frequently enough to disagree with you. There are a number of great exotics for warlocks in PvP at the moment, they're just don't have the visible effects of hunter or titan exotics. Ophidians: literally extend your melee range, give you reload perks (frees up a slot in your shoulder armor) AND quickdraw (a perk literally hunted for on godrolls of weapons) on EVERY weapon, freeing up a perk. These are honestly one of the best PvP exotics in the game. Transverse steps: Stompees but better (free reloads while your sprint). Fantastic movement exotic. Tempest Crown: Combined with top tree arc web this thing let's you wipe a team with a grenade, get that grenade back almost immediately, along with 25% of your super. On top of that killing peeps in your super makes it last longer (and it's already one of the longest lasting roaming supers) Karnstein gauntlets: fantastic when combined with top tree dawn. Contraverse hold: Is still fantastic combined with handheld (which is still a phenomenal skill even if it is no longer broken).

Im a trio main i try to play all classes equally and i feel like before the top tree buff, the bottom tree had major advantage and then after the buff top tree had the advantage. I wish bungie could do something where i have a hard time choosing which subclass to choose but it is always top tree dawnblade (Even in pve, have you seen it with sunbracers)

Every time I have a conversation like this, the person will point to an expert player as a solid reason why Warlocks are the best. LOL. Experts, will make any class look good. Warlocks and Titans are fun, but Hunters are the best class, period. They have the best movement in the game and most variety of builds. It's no contest.

I mentioned a Youtuber, TrueVanguard for being very good with top tree using a sidearm/sniper and he said I should be looking at streamers and non youtube sweats for advice... like they aren’t youtubers also most times lol. Youtubers also stream content which was just another reason why that was a dumb thing to mention. He only had a Hunter created I’m like oooooo I understand now you don’t even know how to play a Warlock in general Like don’t get me wrong, there are some good options on Warlock but simply not enough, which makes them the worst PvP class in comparison to Hunter and Titan

Most Warlock problems are from quality of life issues that haven't been fixed by the Dev's, I think your right in regards to top tree stormcaller and top tree dawnblade being the best overall options only because both top tree and bottom tree Nova Bomb are more situational than anything. Wanna kill the thing in front of you? Use Vortex Nova Bomb. Wanna kill three gaurdians grouped up together? Use Cataclysm Nova Bomb.

I think that subclass nodes coming back could fix warlocks in some of the ways you mentioned. For example, I love nova warp’s melee, but the super and the grenade are so awful it’s just not worth it. I like the healing grenades from well of radiance but the super isn’t good in pvp. I like the melee from chaos reach but it’s just not a good pvp super.

It would be really interesting to see what builds you could do with mixing and matching with not only Warlocks but with the other two classes. Double nades with Thundercrash melee Hunter Vanish Dodge and Smoke Warlock healing nades and burning touch It could be really cool to mix and match all around

작성자: an Ape with a d2 addiction 4/8/2020 8:14:23 AMFor specific loadouts, top tree dawn's my favorite sniping subclass by far. Used to main a hunter for everything before that, and still do hunter for shotguns. But top dawn has by far the best horizontal mobility in the game (better than hunters), which is huge with sniping. Double burst glide icarus dashes let you move 20-30 meters to any direction in a couple seconds, every 5 seconds. Gets you to lanes first and let's you make room when someone tries aping you. Couple that with transversive slides, 2x sprint speed buff stack from transversives + lightweight frame and faster strafing from 100 mobility and I really can't see myself sniping on any other subclass just for the ability to move fast across the map and in and out of engagements. Then mini missiles and firebolts are both perfect for cleaning up snipe bodyshots too. It's really like they designed the subclass for sniping.

작성자: Dr_Cornwallace42 4/8/2020 8:19:58 AMYeah I do agree the most recently changed subclass is very nice but that’s simply 1 subclass which is unfortunate. I actually like bastion as top tree... no one expects the triple burst from above lol I would like more options like maybe if I ate my nade in Chaos Reach it would release an arc pulse and trigger pulse wave for 10 seconds. Just an idea. I wish we had more than 1-2 subclasses to choose from to stay competitively in touch with the other classes. Not too many Warlocks out there... we gotta stay strong
