The “players shouldn’t be able to do damage at a safe distance” thing in the latest TWAB is a pretty pathetic excuse for nerfing a balanced class of weapon. Especially when boss stomp spam plagued the game and its bosses.
Calus requires range on plates.
Argos requires a huge amount of range due to his placement.
Val owns homing missiles and stomps so close damage is not recommended.
Kali and shuro are actually close enough for good shotgun/sword damage.
Morgeth owns stomps and a nearby wall, melee is almost always suicide.
Riven is the other boss thats always in close range for damage phases.
Insurrection is usually set up in a way that gives 1 group close range damage while the other 2 must use range for DPS.
While galhran is close enough for something like fusions, he has a barrier blocking him from melee so maximum shotgun and sword damage goes down heavily.
Consecrated mind literally runs away requiring you to use range.
Sanctified mind is literally in a lake full of radiolarian fluid, no way you can do this boss without range.
The vast majority of bosses either require ranged weaponry, or you to be suicidal for damage. The nerf would make sense if raid bosses actually gave you chances for close DPS, but its just not like that. And if your nerfing things based on strike bosses that are always close-mid range and own smaller HP bars than actual endgame content, your balancing team is pretty stupid.

1 답변작성자: Necrogen 2/26/2020 3:26:23 AMI'm unsure what you seem to understand concerning the twab. It was revealed that the current sandbox needs tweaking to be more in line with their bellcurve. Yes, weapon archetypes were reigned in a bit. that's always going to happen in live service games. You need to understand why. It prolongs the game. In order for the game to maintain a healthy state, you have to have planned obsolescence somewhere down the line.... Or do you expect to be using all the old weapons since vanilla? It's honestly a discussion about sentimentality vs the overall health of the game. Keep that in mind. Keep this in mind as well, your seasonal mods buff damage as well. Season of dawn mods will be mixed with next seasons. I'm sure they play a role in buffing the character.

Raid bosses need to learn to dodge first. Most boss phases can be summed up like this. Seriously though, how many of them actually move enough one their own to at least try and dodge incoming fire?

1 답변Excellent summary. Let us also not forget the penalty in a Raid for getting to close to the Boss. We have 6 Life tokens and then you wipe when the timer expires. And some raids have a limited number of rounds, so unless you can get perfect damage per round, well you ain't taking them down.

작성자: Kouz_MC 2/26/2020 7:46:16 AMBungie can’t deliver content in quality and time, so they twist weapons as a means to create content. Its Bungie’s UVP since a while now, in fact it was carved in stone when they got ditched by activision. Also you paid the price of a full game for a cheap dlc of recycled D1 map, 1 broken ass raid, and 1 too long strike. Stop fooling yourself.

12 답변Why can't people understand it may POSSIBLY take ANOTHER PHASE but they're still defeatable. Let alone there are more than just Snipers for range.
-
Don't forget that it's usually pretty stupid to run anything close-range in a high-level end-game activity like a 980 Nightfall. Like who TF wants to get close to 2 champions with 10 enemies nearby? Even if you stun them, why would you NOT use a sniper? Because you can kill them like 1 second faster but risk a wipe... yeah, great risk/reward ratio. People will still use snipers/Izanagi in end-game activities like that unless they're nerfed into oblivion. I can understand if they'd want to combat power-creep, but their reasoning here makes ZERO sense. If they want to encourage close-ranged weapon usage, they need to design encounters around that and make the risk of getting close actually rewarding and not instant suicide.

They dont care, instead of examining why certain weapons are used and making new content with that in mind they'd rather hit the top stuff used and keep designing bigger versions of standard enemies that gain a stomp and call it a boss

5 답변작성자: Smough 2/25/2020 7:00:09 PMYes, this is what happens when you nerf based off of numbers on a spreadsheet. Bungie saw players using snipers a lot, so they nerfed them without figuring out why players use snipers a lot. The funny thing is, because of the encounters you mentioned and the many more encounters just like them, the most used special will still be snipers guaranteed. The only thing that will happen because of the nerf is bosses will die slightly slower than before. Considering that the whole point of the nerf is to try and force weapon variety on the player, I consider this a massive fail to add to the list on bungie’s part.

1 답변Just use a sidearm and a screwdriver kill every boss in the game.......wham bam thank you mama.......

9 답변You're missing why they're getting nerfed, they aren't getting nerfed because of raid boss design, they're getting nerfed because nobodies using any other special in bread and butter pve(strikes, nightfalls, sundial, etc), they're too powerful compared to other specials which needs to be reigned in for the sake of healthy difficulty spectrum especially with grandmaster on the way

10 답변작성자: Gilgamesh 2/26/2020 3:25:03 AMI have to disagree with some of your comments -Calus has 2 plates close to him that some players can utilize for close range, and with good enough buffs can kill him in the closest plate. -Val may have the missiles but there is a strat involving wardcliff and arcstaff, as well along time ago EP shotgun. He can be easily killed in close range. -Morgeth has a strategy where you literally stand behind him and shoot him with shotguns (should still work since acrius the lowest range shotgun could be used viably) You are correct on alot of the other bosses though I thought about it and returned -Insertion I believe has been killed by using close range weapons only I believe its somewhere on youtube

3 답변but we had fusion rifles/shotguns/snipers in the heavy slot in Y1. Back in my day, we had to use auto rifles in the kinetic slot and Coldheart in the Energy slot.
