The Deep is more than just its corporeal and sometimes slithering interdimensional form.
It is a concept of all space and time. If you think about the realm of quantum physics and the Higgs field- which is the force which gives all matter its makeup and stability, life as we know it is always on the edge of a knife.
If the Higgs field is as strong as we suspect it is; we have nothing to worry about, matter is stable and our molecules are in their resting state.
However, their is a theory called vacuum decay; which posits that while the Higgs field provides a framework to reality but that this is not the vacuum state of matter That it is a false vacuum state of matter and that a chain reaction could cause reality as we perceive it, to blink out of existence before we were even aware something was changing.
It taps into an anxious and frantic fear inside all people when you consider the fragility of space time in reality to our concepts of self. "What will happen to me?"
The Deep is that fear made manifest. What if every horrible thought every dark and twisted fantasy came true. What if the collective negative psychic energy of the human race connected through the internet, and began its war against us, not with weapons of mass destruction, but the weapons of our own minds against our wills, what if the Deep is the vacuum state of the universe, not the empty void we see?
I speak for the Deep. And I write its stories, and tell of its exploits. But the characters that face it are the true focus of my stories... they are the true muses.

14 답변But doesn’t the “physics” of quantum physics break down and become non applicable when dealing with mass at the atomic level and greater? And aren’t subatomic particles, or at least their observance, both stable and unstable? That subatomic particles can seem to wink in and out of existence or seem to pass through solid objects or “teleport”, though such behavior is inapplicable, again, at the atomic level or greater?
