I have been in love with the Destiny universe since my boyfriend got me the Rise of Iron package including all previous expansions. I started playing this game on the weekend of the Beta for COD Infinite Warfare (Don't judge) and I haven't stopped since. I even got into clans in D2 and have been running my own since last year.
I've been defending this game and Bungie for such a long time, but this season was such a let down. Yes, the campaign was amazing, a little short for my taste, but it was nonetheless a great campaign. The first week or so of Shadowkeep was great. Season of the Undying? Not so much.
The majority of my clan and a lot of people in the forums agree - it is truly heartbreaking. It's a shame to see a game that I loved investing time into, turn into something that is aggravating and feels like a waste of time instead. Below is a reworked version of something that I posted in my clan's discord when the Undying Mind was unleashed on us. It was prompted by everyone voicing their disappointment with it...that was before I had looked at it and yeah, that was a weak finale, Bungie.
The season already started under a bad sign.
1. Pre-Season Leaks It leaked that the gear for the raid was a lazy reskin of an old Eververse set. Even though Bungie tried to get out in front of it after Guardian Con, it still remains to be a sad reskin. As someone whose core focus is raids this is a slap in the face. Kinda like Trials of the Nine never returning for PvP players I guess. Meanwhile, Eververse received A+++ treatment.
2. Raid launch. Let's not beat the dead horse that is contest mode on console. The frame drops for the last encounter in the raid, the insane amounts of lag fireteams constantly have to deal with [on PS4], are a painful experience. Raid design? Beautiful! But overshadowed by other issues with the raid. Aside from the armour, contest mode & frame rate issues:
3. Raid Loot Economy. No heavy weapon (Divinity tied to the raid which is a nice touch), an insane focus on weapon drops (from my experience) instead of a balance between weapons and armour.
Challenge mode? Well, it's nice for the triumph, completely useless for loot, unless you are looking for yet another primary or energy weapon to infuse. --> Instead Bungie should have at least included masterworked raid armour as a potential drop from challenge chests. Where is the incentive to do them? --> Overall, the raid is quite the disappointment, if you factor in all the issues with the final encounter as well as the loot system
4. The crucible. The activity Bungie left lying around for a long time, received one completely new map. As much as I love Widow's Court and Twilight Gap, they are old Destiny 1 maps. Another lazy attempt at adding "new" content. (Yeah, let's not mention the new, fun, fresh IB quest --> that is sarcasm by the way). Momentum Control is certainly fun but if that is the best bungie can do with the time they've had for the crucible? Then it simply doesn't look good. Sure, comp got reworked, control 6v6, rotator 6v6 and rotator 4v4 were added as well, but overall, given the time Bungie has had to work on this. It's not exactly a show of force. or "amazing" as Shaxx would shout. Speaking of old voice lines:
5. Vendors Vendors did not receive a refresh, Hawthorn is still greeting Guardians with her old "You took out Ghaul!" Line (Yeah, the forums are kinda over it as well), even Saladin is throwing the same old weapons our way.
6. Seasonal Activity. Fair enough, it's seasonal for a reason, so remove it if it really improves the game overall. The activity itself? Dull after a few runs, even the menagerie had rotating bosses that kept it fresh for at least the first three weeks. Here? Defeat the same boss over and over again, do the same mechanics twice in order to get to the boss encounter. Replay factor? Almost nill. Uninspired "finale" with the Undying mind. Are we really shocked at this point? Considering how little thought, effort and love Bungie seems to have poured into this season?
7. Brightdust Economy. Make bright dust available through bounties, fair enough. Limit these bounties to Vanguard, Crucible & Gambit weekly & repeatable bounties? Absolute BS. Especially if you look at the prices in the Eververse store at the moment. Who, in their right mind, grinds out Gambit & Vanguard activities once they have reached level cap? Instead, Bungie could have tied this to Banshee bounties as well, potentially even the seasonal activity. Where will players spent more time? Doing Gambit or the actual seasonal activity? Alternatively, Bungie could have kept Eververse bounties.
8. Armour 2.0, Season Pass & Artefact. Now, this is where Bungie’s focus was this season (Aside from refreshing & reworking their Cash Cow - Eververse). Armour 2.0? Fair enough, there is enough in the community about that. Season pass? 100 levels? Alright. Certainly could have been more for hardcore players. Alternatively, improved rewards for ranking up past rank 100; Bright dust, bright engrams, ascendant shards, etc. Artefact? Cool idea, but really so cool that it justified pulling resources from the rest of the game to focus on that? We will see. Speaking of engrams, what is this bullshit with “Nostalgic Engrams”?
9. undying title Interesting idea there, Bungie. Making the title only available to people who grind out these, so-called, ritual weapons. Who really needs these weapons? Who would be grinding them out if they weren't attached to a title? I know I wouldn't, hell, I still have open quests from the last few seasons. That's my decision, I think it's kind of ridiculous to make us grind these out for this season's title. What exactly do they have to do with the Vex? Are they Vex themed? Sorry, but I may have missed this. It was bad enough making us play the Vex Offensive into the ground...then again, that may have been the only way to get people to engage with this activity. I know that people who I play with won't be getting the title because they found the Offensive to be too mind numbing. I, most likely, won't be getting it because I now have 3 weapons to grind out within 6 days. Because I made the mistake of focussing on teaching Destiny 2's raids, this season especially Garden of Salvation, to new and old clan members.
To me, personally, this was one of the weaker seasons. Once again, Bungie attempted to ‘fix’ certain aspects that weren’t broken and forgot to focus on the ones that actually count for the community. This, “finale” with the Undying mind? Honestly, I am not even a little surprised. It’s sad, since I expect so much more from this game and this studio that claims to listen to its community. We will see what the future season brings, but considering the sandbox and imbalances on console, there are more issues that I am sure others will be mentioning. The ones I listed above were simply the ones that grind my gears the most.
Thank you for reading this, if you made it through this novel.

1 답변Well said. I have to say I'm really close to retiring my ghost. I may play with some of my clan here and there. But everything has turned into an endless grind and some of us don't have the time to do an endless grind for basically nothing. I also don't have the patience for a company that doesn't help when there is an issue. Yes their trailers to each season always looks great, but then they don't deliver. Far too many other games out there.

But...then you get into the story, systems, connections, etc. and it just falls on its face. Sadly, this is a prime example of tremendous talent without any leadership or direction. How many things fall through the cracks, how many things are just ignored, how many failed systems are still in the game? It's quite a bit, and that is on leadership to say "we need to fix this"....

2 답변작성자: milk dud 12/3/2019 3:54:31 PMActivision was never the problem . I’m 100% sure of that . They don’t change anything ( why should we spend anything ) if people don’t waste money on seasonal passes you see how they would scramble to fix these things . I enjoy it but it has become completely stagnant for me. Plenty of other games out there

I’m unfortunately in agreement with you. I’ll still play. We where told that the narrative for a undying wasn’t yet over. But I haven’t seen anything new. Next season the only new space is the sundial. But that’s just a staging area. We are seeing less and less content. And more content being put in eververce. Shadowkeep was literally was a reprise of bosses we have fought before. On a area we played before. There where cool parts. But I fear destiny is no longer A MAJOR focus. I just hope I’m proven wrong. But from what I see... it’s not looking very promising.

2 답변Raid boss fight is the worst ever designed. 2 players have fun, 4 players are bored to death. The DPS phase is crap, the enhanced relay thing turns players into more scrubs than they already are. That’s not to mention that people hate gambit, so Bungie makes a gambit raid. Right. Anyway, this raid is even easier and more boring than Crown of Sorrows, which was scoring quiet high on the scale of cheap. Good thing there’s this Smaug like area. Gear 2.0 is the worst thing ever done since we actually lost perks on each gear, like tracerifle of sniper rifle reserves and the like, how surprising is this in a sniper and trace rifle meta?? Is it progressive to not be able to create builds like we used to, instead all wait for void affinity gears?? Dafuq is this drop out crap dev? We also can’t have heavy ammo or special ammo finder on every piece of gear like we used to. In fact, armor 2.0 is nothing more than Bungie’s way to force players into farming more enhancement cores. Yet, I still remember all the idiots calling this economy better. Yeah because spending 750 enhancement cores is cheaper than 70. No wonder such an unemployment rate in calif! The dungeon looks nice, the loot pool is so bad and the drops are so trash, including a mostly useless +1 pinnacle, that everyone’s looking for boss checkpoints. What could be more terrible than the community wanting to skip the dungeon as soon as during its second week. Get real. This is a disaster. Vex Invasions are the worst crap ever designed by Bungie. Nightmare hunts. There’s idea here, but once again terrible execution: why add champions if there’s no sense killing them? In fact triumphs pretty much require to skip them. There should have been unique loots to say the least, and unique rewards for killing champions. The ordeal nightfall really is the only activity that offer replay ability with decent loot expectations, although farming exotics can be done only this much without turning into boredom.

I did really enjoy seeing the old spaces from D1 updated and added back into the game, but add in most of the new content, aside from the Pyramid Ship, and this season was underwhelming. All that being said, PLEASE, for the love of all that is holy, push forward with the narrative. More Pyramid Ship, Uldren Sov needs to be brought full circle, and stop worrying about blowing your entire load too early. The players are craving the story components that have been teased and teased for too damn long.

“100 levels? Alright. Certainly could have been more for hardcore players” LOL you do realize there’s little to no new content because Bungie went all in on the grind/seasonal event/hamster wheel for the “hardcore” playerbase right? It’ll be interesting to see if there’s enough revenue to keep making sense to produce more D2 when all the casuals and midcore folks stop buying due to burnout or disinterest.

Summed it up nicely. I'm taking a break as my console is being sent back for repairs. Would usually be gutted to miss the start of a new season but this time it's kind of a relief. The thought of a new power grind well you know probably most are feeling it. It's not really something to look forward to. The pinnacle grind this season, well I did it just on one character then just gave up the week before the last iron banner where I finally got divinity. Getting divinity was a relief and the experience was not fun and took me far too many hours. After that I had no motivation to pinnacle grind Iron banner week on one character let alone 3. I thought I might try work on my other 2 characters the final couple of weeks but really felt no motivation to do so. Not sure how the power grind will be going forward and if pinnacle grinding starts over again new each season then I'm likely not going to really pay much attention to doing it.

1 답변I would say they are not breaking hearts but breaking noses. Guardian noses. By allowing titan apes dominate crucible with their no-skill melee "skills" and thundercoil one-punch.

3 답변I have to say this again after doing so in several past threads that are pretty much the same as this. Which is ringing up things that need attention after so long and eververse complaining. They warned us in "the directors cut" blog by Mr. Smith. Where he spoke about team burnout from the breakneck pace and having to limit their focus etc going forward. For those that lack comprehension, which is most now days, expect less going forward. I mean they flat out said we will get less stuff. Everyone seems to have forgotten this. They have also repeatedly said since D1 that no matter how fast they make content the community will devour it. Basically it's never enough. This time however there has been a lot of things brought up by the community that honestly have been brought up before and are not new. But community is asking wtf more which is good. I don't know what their books look like but to most of us it seems like they need more people or need to sub contract with other studios. I get they're real people and shouldn't work slave hours. But seems to be a lot of things overlooked or the plan is too aggressive for what they can actually do.

Burnout is approaching. Sad but true. Bungie- please sprinkle some space majik because it feels like the game is losing its way... Listening to feedback? Act upon it and get them vendors refreshed. Have more ways of getting pinnacle gear. Keep the emblems coming! Please x

1 답변Wait until you watch today's stream....it's been the worst Bungie has ever done, Season of the Dawn is gonna be absolutely terrible based on what we just saw...I guess I will log in for the two exotic quests next month and that will be it....way to keep your player base entertained
