I've felt this way since power advantages were returned in Forsaken, but the deeper we've gone into season 8, the worse this has become in my opinion.
As much as I didn't like it last year, at least we could hit the power cap and not be at a disadvantage based on level anymore. That's no longer the case and as we've gotten further into this season, the power disadvantages have gotten worse. Players who have been able to level into the 970's- 980's have a significant advantage over everyone and it really makes for low quality games when we get those lobbies.
Iron Banner has enough to make it unique with the aesthetic and lockout mechanic. It doesn't need a cheap power advantage that also negates the rest of the matchmaking criteria.
Edit: it's interesting that so many people in this forum community are so into wanting weapons nerfed because they're "unfair" and "unbalanced", but are totally cool with unbalanced matchmaking that lets players get farmed and with level advantages that make weapons and abilities more unbalanced than anything in the sandbox at level.
It's almost like it's all about kd farmers wanting to protect stats...
Also, I want to hear everyone defending this saying it's "endgame" so power needs to matter, also say that if Trials returns, that they're okay with power mattering there with unlimited levels because of the artifact as well.

7 답변Artifact light SHOULD NOT factor into light level for PvP based activities. It should only base light level advantage on base light level.

No, power advantages in IB are exactly what IB is all about. What you are doing is like someone complaining that their corvette sucks because it can't haul 4 person family and their luggage. Seriously. Ok, poor analogy...here is a better one... You sound like a person complaining that marathons are too long and should be shortened to be "fair" to those who don't spend the time and train hard to improve their physical fitness to be able to compete at the highest level. That doesn't mean that you or I can't run a marathon...it means that if we want to compete at the highest levels, we have to put in the time and effort and do the grind to get in top shape. THE SAME APPLIES TO IB! You want a pure skill based game with no power advantage? Fine...GO TO ANY OF THE OTHER PVP GAMES IN DESTINY. You have plenty to choose from...Classic Mix, Control, hell, even Competitive. Don't complain about IB when it was specifically set up for power advantage....id est, be more like real life where people who do the grind have an advantage over those who don't. BETTER YET...if you really want a skill based game with no advantages...then go to another game where there aren't disparities between supers (bottom tree Striker, anyone?) and everyone has the same exact equipment (One Eyed Mask, anyone?). That is to say, no special, no pinnacle, no exotic weapons/armor...unless everyone has them). THAT would be a pure skill based PVP game. That all being said...power/light level doesn't make much of a difference in IB. I should know. I was 996/997 (now 999) and people who were 60-100 light levels below me were melting me. In one game I supered (full health) and was two tapped by a 930 Warlock with Vigilance Wing. My clanmate was right behind me and saw the whole thing. He was left speechless. How could someone over 60 light levels under me two tap me with Vigilance Wing while I was in my super? Hell, that shouldn't have happened even if light level didn't matter. So, what's your take on that? Does light level really matter or are there just too many cheaters on Destiny? That is something that is more important to tackle than complaining about a small part of Destiny that was specifically made for those who want to take advantage of light level.

Yeah, using a high rpm weapon, the TTK is probably a little quicker and/or more forgiving, or, that shotgun/fusion has 0.5 meter longer lethal distance. Yeah, maybe you have a little bit better survivability. It's really not THAT big of a difference if you're within 20 light levels or so. For anyone who is sub 950-60, that's their own stupidity for being in a position, and choosing, to play underlevelled. They get what they get. Are you kidding me? "Blah blah blah into the 970's" Bro, if you can't even hit the POWERFUL cap and get 20 levels on your artifact one week from the END of the season... WHY do you CARE/what are you DOING worrying about Iron Banner?

3 답변작성자: TheArtist 12/3/2019 2:57:20 PMDisagree. This game is never going to be balanced or a game of pure shooting skill. Because you’d break pve in the process. Power level is part of build strength. Without it, Iron Banner is no identity of its own and may as well be regular Crucible.

16 답변I’m personally fine with it. Especially since the bounties reward you for killing higher level players. Take away the leveling and iron banner is just normal crucible, except it’s always a special version of control

2 답변작성자: More Power 12/2/2019 10:29:21 PM
Players who have been able to level into the 970's- 980's have a significant advantage
I played IB through about 2-1/2 Valor Rank resets, and saw only a few 970+. I'm a 962 Titan. For grins, one game I changed my heavy weapon to a 750 light level rocket that I wanted to experiment with. That brought my overall light level down to 940ish iirc. The only thing I noticed is that most opponents I hit with a shoulder charge would barely-barely survive, where they were all a one hit kill when I ran at 960. BTW - I finish higher when I just run and gun, and leave the shoulder charge alone. But it's so much fun. I haven't laughed like that since early D1.

18 답변Well it is the Iron Banner tradition that we always have since back in D1, they once actually had light advantages disabled during the first few seasons of Iron Banner and the reception to that was woefully terrible. To be put it simply, Iron Banner without Light Advantage isn’t Iron Banner.

작성자: Lord_Shar 12/2/2019 10:54:50 PMI think Iron Banner is fine as is. It is the only dedicated PVP format that enforces light advantage, so players who have done the LS grind can push past the 950 soft cap with IB Pinnacle Engrams to make IB worth their time. Other PVP arena's ignore light score completely, hence no pinnacles. Light level matters outside of Crucible, so Iron Banner is a good reminder of "that old tradition." ;)
