Eververse wouldn’t be a pain point if there was an expansive loot pool(bungie please read)

I’m not one of those people that’s going to sit here and tell you I’m a D1 veteran and things were better then, because they weren’t, and people who say that are looking back in nostalgia. D2 has made significant jumps forward from D1. However one thing that D1 got right that has yet to come to D2 is world loot and the aspects of looking unique(kind of) I remember going around the tower or the reef(multiple social spaces also helped with making the world feel larger) and seeing people with so many unique items and wondering where I could get them. This created a desire to hunt for loot outside of just raid items or quested pinnacle weapons. These items were things that could possibly drop from strikes(not nightfall specific weapons), prison of elders, various factions who were getting new things to sell every dlc, or some mysterious exotic quest(that wasn’t announced to the whole community the day it was dropped). These items included armor pieces that looked like they actually were worn by the boss you killed. My point in saying all this is that putting lots of odd and random loot throughout the game world, some hard to get and some easy, fleshed our the game and made the destiny universe seem larger than it actually was. Even though D2 is actually far larger than D1 it doesn’t feel as so due to the loot all coming from eververse or some seasonal vendor that sells everything directly to you. I feel as though going back to this style of loot from D1 would alleviate the emptiness in the world. Problems with my argument: In saying these things I realize that a lot of the cool gear in eververse would simply not exist if it didn’t exist to be sold because making content with no financial return simply isn’t economically practical. The second problem with my argument is that it would be the return of heavy rng in the game and I know a lot of players really hate that. I think a mix of menagerie style loot(pre chest bug fix) and random drops would solve this. This is all just my opinion so I’m open to debate with everybody else. In the end it’s bungie’s game so what I say doesn’t matter all that much.

  • Honestly a vender reset would fix alot of this. Their is also a sever lack of incentive to do prestige raids in comparison to destiny 1 which had alot of incentives that were not just power level related or getting like 1 extra drop a room. Destiny 1 prestige raids had huge incentives like exclusive raid armor ornaments and weapons including super rare materials for upgrades. Destiny 2 kinda did away with the idea of prestige rewards especially after year 1 destiny 1. Like they Just released prestige ornaments for the eater of worlds and spire of stars and then like a month after basically did away with raid ornaments entirely, taking away the way players showed off that they beat the raid on the hardest difficultly. And while destiny 2 has stuff that is better then destiny 1 the activities in destiny 1 were arguably more rewarding and fun to do. I remember when the strike playlist was something people actually wanted to farm for resources and when crucible had so manny options of game modes to choose from. You also had class customization and you could choose any story mission you wanted to play and just play it. You also had shaders that you could equip or remove any time without using resources and SHDERS GLOWED like a FREAKING CHRISTMAS TREE! I would be in the tower rapidly switching my glow shaders to make it look like i was having a rave. I could go on longer but the point is while destiny 2 does some stuff better then destiny 1, the game is looked at as better not just because of nostalgia but because alot of the stuff in destiny 1 was legitimately better then it is in destiny 2.

Luke Smith said it feels bad to have to dismantle Eververse items for dust, turns out that was wrong. It feels bad dismantling your 3rd exotic ship in a row for a couple of shards, then looking at the 6000 dust ornaments for Halloween and wonder how many 10 dust bounties you need to do in a week to afford all the spooky stuff. They can find the time and resources to refresh Eververse every season with 50-100 items, but can't spare the manpower to give Shaxx a new armour set and a few weapons. They can take cosmetics from activities that need more loot and stick it behind a silver paywall without batting an eyelid (seriously, how many exotic ships/sparrows etc look like they should come from a raid or Nightfalll?). They can take what is clearly raid armour and stick it in the season pass as ornaments (just compare the Phenotype Plasticity set to the GoS weapons, they have the matching look), whilst letting the premier activity rewards be reskinned Eververse gear from 2 years ago. They say they want to focus on new activities, but can't bring themselves to update year 1 weapons (and some y1 armour that drops almost never) to increase the loot pool. It feels pretty crappy to still be picking up Ten Paces off the floor, or getting another Crooked Fang from a Nightfall after a damn year! They can find the time to add Eververse to the director, but can't let us grab bounties from orbit. Iron Banner had a new armour set, but no new weapons, not even a new seasonal emblem. Bungie clearly prioritises the parts of the game that pay the best. That may seem like good business, but if your game suffers as a result, you'll end up earning less $$$ when your pissed off fans leave you.

          • I agree. The scale is tipped too far in the direction of Eververse. Unfortunately, this is the Bungie monetization business plan. 1. Push things too far 2. Pretend like they had no idea they were pushing things too far 3. Act like helpful community feedback has shown them the error of their ways 4. Apologize for tipping the scale too far in the Eververse direction, and promise to change in the future 5. Wait 6 months to return Eververse to a tolerable level, pretending to need the time to collect data in order to choose the right path forward 6. Repeat We’ve been through this 3 other times. It’s just a song and dance, and people shouldn’t get so worked up. Leave your feedback and don’t worry about the people who will (for some inconceivable reason) fight you over this.

Bungie is going to do nothing unless we, as a community, collectively stop caving into the system. If less people buy silver then one of three things will happen: 1. Bungie reworks Eververse to a more player friendly system. An example would be the Bright Engram on level up system but there are other options. 2. Bungie will keep adding more items to Eververse, taking away from world drops, in an effort to encourage players to buy silver. 3. Bungie will increase silver and bright dust costs to make up for lost revenue. Points 2 and 3 are doomed to fail, however. Increasing Eververse inventory would just make worse the situation we are currently in. Increasing prices would lead to even less players buying silver because they cannot afford it. It would all lead back to a complete rework of Eververse. That being said, the only items that should be sold in Eververse are novelty items. Shaders, emotes, Ghost projections, etc. Ships, sparrows, and Ghost shells shouldn't be part of Eververse unless they are cheesy novelty items (broom sparrow for example). Everything else should be obtainable as rewards from various activities. Even then, the items Tess does sell should be novelty, extravagant cosmetics. I'm talking sparkly shaders, bold emotes (already has a few), stuff like that. Weapon ornaments is a grey area.

I'll try to keep this short. When a company makes things like the Eververse store more of a priority over the rest of their game that needs to be updated like bad? Yeah, this company has issues because they are literally taking away from the rest of the game as a looter shooter and turning it into a cosmetic game. I don't give a flying hoot about the BS from Eververse. I want to see this company put the effort they did in d1 creating new loot for the game as they should be, not this reskinned hand me down HoGWash they have been doing that most of the loot is mediocre that it's not worth acquiring.

              • The 3 biggest problems with Eververse are: 1: The items in the game that you do earn (especially this season and last), are just plain ugly. Remember the exotic Black Armory ship and the Whisper ship? 2 totally cool looking ships that you can only get by doing something in game. Now compare that to the Ghost, Ship, and Sparrow you get from the moon, and Master The Ordeal. You address this, so I'm just reaffirming it. 2: The Eververse is built on the same model as 100% true free to play games. Destiny 2 is not 100% free to play. 3: The prices, even though they are similar to other titles, are just too high. And in game purchases in those other games are too high as well. This is not just a Bungie issue. It's an industry wide issue. There is no word on a Destiny 3. No one knows what the actual lifespan is for D2. Why in the world would I pay $10 for an emote? $15 for an armor set? The game could be done after the next 3 seasons, and even though that's almost a year, it's easier to spend $5 on something you know is a total waste of money. Those things aren't coming with you to Destiny: Whatever its Called. At this point, I don't even know if I'd buy them if there were drastic changes made. Companies know exactly what they're doing the first time around. Tweaking it and adjusting it once the community goes ape shit, can't really be played off in any kind of respectful manner.

Luke smith told us from the beginning, he laid the foundation for where we are. It had nothing to do with activision. Remember the line: "you'll be throwing money at your television". Eververse has always been his priority.....as it is now. https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/06/22/bungies-disastrous-taken-king-interview-could-have-ramifications-for-destiny/amp/ We remember

              • This. All of this. The game world needs more unique loot, plain and simple. We need more to grind for in a wider variety of places. For example, in my ideal fantasy world every single lost sector would have at least one unique piece of gear, be it weapon or armor, that had a very small chance of dropping. This would make lost sectors at least a little more engaging instead of being used simply as a checkbox on a random bounty. Strike loot, rotating loot pools for the Menagerie and seasonal activities, even Public events could use a little extra love just to make us feel like there’s something to grind for and make the game world feel that much deeper.

              • Why is a ghost shell 600 silver? You dont get +100 silver for buying 500.. So you either have to purchase 500 silver twice or straight up get 1000. So obvious how greedy they have become.

Kind of like somebody at Bungie fell asleep at the wheel as far as loot goes. World loot and vendor loot has been repetitious and boring for quite a while. I want an emblem that shows how many Edge Transits or Crooked Fangs I have received. The loot puddle is in need of a long overdue refresh.

                      • The loot pool is almost 100% the problem. People wouldn’t have a problem with an armor set or two being locked behind eververse if it wasn’t 1/4th of the armor from the dlc. Would people really have a problem with eververse having exotic ships and sparrows if the raids and certain other activities had those ships and sparrows? I doubt it. Of course the unreasonable prices should also be taken into consideration, and we should obviously let bungie know how dumb those prices are (seriously $15 for a reskinned rare armor set with the event).

But no, we get Prodigal/Tangled Web/Class specific (Thorium Holt/Mimetic Savior, IDK the Hunter one) as world drops. The old armor sets are still in the game, why they won't use them for 2.0, IDK
