He worked for British intelligence at one time. But at the time his services were contracted, he no longer worked for the British Government and was an independent contractor. Which made what was done perfectly legal, and legitimate opposition research. What is NOT legal is blackmailing a foreign [i]head of state[/i] by withholding Congressionally approved military aid in the middle of a WAR. For no other purpose than his own re-election bid. He betrayed our national security interests and those of an ally we convinced to give up their nukes because we would protect them from exactly what’s happening to them right now. For nothing but his own personal interests. This is not even an apples to oranges comparison, it’s a flat out effort to gaslight people and sow confusion as to what the real issue is. Like I said. [/quote] I’m curious where do you stand? My opinion is it’s not okay for the president (Democrat or Republican) to ask foreign governments to dig up dirt on their political opponents. If Biden or Obama had done the same as Trump they should be held accountable as well. The only problem w your fiction is that it is directly refuted by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister and the former number 2 Ukrainian prosecutor, who himself resigned rather than work for the prosecutor whom the Ukrainian Parliament fired. Both individuals, along w the current Ukrainian Prime Minister, have directly said that Biden's son was never the subject of any investigation and that the company was under investigation long before he joined the board. Additionally, the head of the IMF at the time and the EU Anti-corruption Commission had both called for the same prosecutor to be fired long before Biden did, due to his being soft on corruption within the Ukrainian government. Finally, unlike Trump, Biden never tried to hide his actions. To the contrary, he made his comments in public and on the record. Therefore, had Biden been involved in anything nefarious, it's certain that Republicans would have at least investigated his actions at the time. However, in all the years since this occurred, even after Trump won the election and Republicans controlled House and the Senate, not once did they raise the issue about Biden. Even now, if he did something wrong, the Attorney General could launch an investigation, and so could the Senate. This whole thing is nothing but a means of drawing attention away from Trump's actions. It seems that there is always some half baked excuse why we should ignore the things Trump does, while holding everyone else to a heightened standard. If some people wish to view him as some infallible god, that's fine. However, it's very apparent what has happened in this case.
